Hi all,

I’m a law student at a T6 and am going to a V20 this summer. I always hear that people only last a few years on average in big law. But of course, that stat includes people who intend to only stay for a few years. I come from a background where my parents didn’t make much money, so I want to maximize my earnings while I can, especially because law school debt is crazy high.

If I want to stay in big law as long as possible, and try to stay for as long as possible, how long can I last? I don’t necessarily want to make partner, and understand that it’s rare for even the people who do want to make it. And I’m fine with lateraling to a less prestigious firm if I get laid off or get tol

Hi all, I’ve gotten three callbacks so far. Two have resulted in very quick rejections and another has been radio silence for about two weeks.

I feel like if I wasn’t interviewing poorly, two of the callbacks wouldn’t have resulted in very quick rejections. I felt good walking away from the interviews, so I feel like I’m missing something if the rejections come so quick (by quick, I mean within a few days).

Does anyone have any advice for self reflection? I’m not really into mock interviews because the career services office always just ends up giving generic advice. I’m just trying to figure out common behaviors have which turn people off. I try to treat these interviews as more convers

This is a developing thought in my head, so please let me know if anything sounds unclear or if I need to be more specific. Generally, I see the distinction between secularism and religion as secularism holding Reason as the only thing which can support knowledge while religion also allows Faith to support knowledge. Faith, by definition, is belief without reason.

But does Reason not fundamentally rest on Faith? Are first principles not always going to be axiomatic, where we must have faith that they’re the “right” principles to start with? Nobody has solved the Is-Ought problem, and it’s starting to look like it’s not something that can be fixed. Philosophers can’t even agree why slavery

I think an unintended consequence of the patch is that it’s extremely difficult to get a what if scenario now. It was already hard enough before, with every strat relying on getting sparking ASAP and then popping instant sparking after to do it again. But they nerfed pretty much every thing you would do to do the “defeat X quickly” challenge.

  1. Instant sparking increased by a skill point.
  2. Skill meter charges slower
  3. Instant sparking combo I think does less damage

Has anyone done any “beat x quickly” challenge since the patch? Or is it just me?

I’m registered to vote but I never updated my address when I moved here for grad school. Apparently I had to do it through some paper form. Am I still allowed to vote at a polling station here or am I supposed to vote at my assigned polling place? My previous address was elsewhere in New York so I’ve always been a New York resident my whole life.

A recent article came out about a New York congressman wearing blackface at a 2006 Halloween college party when he was 20. 2006 isn’t that long ago. And while colleges weren’t as liberal then as they are now, I’m assuming they were still pretty liberal and hyper anti racist. If someone wore blackface at a college party now, it would be all over social media and would be a giant controversy at the school. You likely wouldn’t be let into parties at all and people would confront you.

I’m wondering if blackface had a connotation of being racist back before the age of social media. Because I keep seeing public figures get photos released of them wearing it, even liberal ones like Justin Trudeau

Hi, I know this is a weird question. I’m an early 20s, otherwise healthy man with no previous addiction issues. I don’t drink often and have smoked weed a few times. I haven’t started drinking coffee until this week, and I randomly started craving it really heavy today. I picked up a 225 mg caffeine coffee drink from the store (same one I had yesterday) and when I drink it I immediately felt like the craving was released, and felt really good. Like, I feel like it’s getting me high somehow. But I couldn’t have developed a caffeine addiction or dependence or whatever since I just started drinking it this week.

I also don’t understand the effects it’s supposed to have. I think (?) I feel mor

There’s this new vid where this former Mr beast employee half jokingly implies that Mr Beast committed a war crime because he kept the lights on 24/7 during a fake solitary confinement challenge that apparently destroyed this guy’s mental health. I think this would be an entertaining video for the stream because IMO the former Mr Beast employee overreacts pretty hard about getting paid $10k a day to do fake solitary confinement and I’d like to hear Destiny’s take on it. Maybe people disagree but I feel like the majority of this video is a bad faith nothing burger and the only possible source of drama is that they had a sex offender working there, and they imply that this guy was around kids
