First, I want to say that both of these versions are fantastic. However, I think that for this specific book Wil Wheaton was a better Mark Watney.
The nerd energy that Wheaton brings to the character is fantastic and really draws me into the story. His blogs sounds like a geeky botanist actually geeking out while talking through a difficult problem.
Also, despite Bray being younger than Wheaton, I think Wheaton pulls off “young botanist astronaut” better.
Just my opinion. Feel free to discuss.
Oh, but If I had the skills to cut Wheaton for Watney’s parts and Bray for the rest, that would be great.
