I’m struggling with feeling unattractive because of my experiences on Muzz.
I’ve been on and off the app for about five years. I keep my photo blurred initially, but after matching and unblurring it, I’m often blocked or unmatched. I find this really upsetting, and it has definitely affected my self-esteem and confidence.
I’ve taken numerous breaks from the app because of how it’s made me feel, but I keep going back because it’s my main way of meeting a potential spouse.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, how did you cope with it and stop it from affecting your confidence?

How common is it for women in Somalia to not wear a jilbab?
I’m visiting Somalia for the first time. I wear an abaya and on two occasions, two guys said to my mum and aunt, “Maxaad gabadhan u xirsiin weyday jilbaab?” It made me feel really uncomfortable. I’m in my 30s btw.
One of the things I dislike about the country is the narrow-minded men. Who said it was compulsory for women to wear a jilbab, or for men to tell women what to wear?
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I will be travelling to Somalia (Mogadishu) for the first time next month, and I was wondering if it’s necessary to take malaria tablets. For those who have visited, did you take any tablets? How prevalent is malaria there? I’d like to hear your thoughts.

What’s with these YouTubers/content creators visiting Somalia for clout and creating a fake perception and propaganda for views and to go viral? I remember a few years ago a YouTuber did the same thing, and Somalis mass-reported his videos so they got taken down. We should all do that for any videos that are similar, as it’s getting jarring now. The government should definitely start issuing stricter visas for foreigners who are going there with bad intentions.

I find the way we are being portrayed deeply dehumanising and upsetting.

I will be visiting Mogadishu for the first time in July and wanted to ask for recommendations on hotels to stay at. Which ones have great service and reasonably priced. Also is July a good time to visit or is it more costly due to school holidays.

The man has gone on another rant about us today. I genuinely think he may be mentally unstable. I don’t understand why he keeps mentioning us nonstop, it can’t just be about Ilhan Omar or the “fraud.” There must be a bigger reason behind this, perhaps he’s preparing something. May Allah protect us and our country from all evil

Eid Mubarak all!

I know Eid is supposed to be a happy day, but I always feel an intense sense of sadness and loneliness. I grew up in a dysfunctional family, and despite still living at home, we don’t really do anything together. The two siblings who moved out very rarely come round, and we all barely have conversations or relationships with each other.

I sometimes go to Eid prayers on my own, and when I see families and friends together, I feel like I could burst into tears. It’s a very painful feeling, and I don’t really know how to explain it.

Can anyone else relate to this? How do you deal with it?

I would appreciate if you could make dua for my grandma who passed away yesterday.

Thanks

Can someone create a new community for Somalis here where posts aren’t restricted? I don’t understand why moderators keep removing posts that aren’t offensive or harmful. The censorship is crazy. This post will probably get taken down, haha.
