Hi all. I guess I am what is called a seeker. Been irreligious al my life but recently have felt a call towards faith. Not necessarily Christianity, but maybe. Anyway I have been reading a few books by John Shelby Spong recently, the late Bishop of Newark, and I am really fascinated by his theory of a “nontheistic” God, which jibes more with whatever it is that I understand God to be. I’m just curious to what extent his ideas have any currency in the Church today, or whether he is predominantly viewed as a fringe or crackpot thinker? Thanks for any insight!
