How many do you need?

4 logs = 8 coal
4 logs turned into halves = 16 coal
4 logs turned into quarters = 0 coal

This skips the woodchipper and saves time.
Be careful, the coals continue to burn so you have to pick them up or they'll burn up.
Don't do it during rain, it will extinguish the fires and not turn anything to coal.

When it comes to transferring fuel from the cremator, is there only the slow 100 unit gas cans?

Is there a way to transfer fuel more efficiently to the large fuel tank?

In my playthrough I've been doing everything I can to be nice to the Arirals and I must've given them hundreds of packs of shrimp.

I use debug rep and it keeps setting to -100 mean for some reason.
