I’m considering staying in lauterbrunnen for 3-4 days this July with my girlfriend. We love hiking and that would be the main purpose of the stay. However after looking into it a little bit it seems like a lot of the recommended hiking trails require expensive trains/cable cars to reach. I’m wondering if there are good hikes that can be reached by foot from the town of lauterbrunnen. We’re relatively experienced hikers so would prefer 2-3 full day hikes that get us up high with good views etc, but I’m worried that all of these type of hikes maybe require spending a lot of money on cable cars and trains. Is it possible to hike in lauterbrunnen without using them, or should we look somewhere e

I’m going to be traveling in Slovenia in about a week, and after visiting Bled I’m planning to head down to Pula, Croatia. Is this possible to do in one day by train/bus? Assuming I have to go via Ljubljana but am open to anyway this would be possible.

I'm trying to figure out what bag I need for a Hut to Hut hike I'll be going in the Julian Alps this summer. Dinners and Breakfasts will be served at the huts, so foodwise I'll just be carrying snacks for midday, for sleeping I just need a sleeping bag liner, everything else will be at the huts. So mostly I'll just be carrying the clothing required for the hike, it's in about mid june so I will need some gear for colkd weather (windbreaker, base layer). I have an osprey Farpoint 40 that I'll be carrying stuff in for the bulk of my larger trip through Europe, but I think this is too big for this hike. I'm looking for recommendations for a bag for this hike, preferably something that could als

Basically the title, I'm traveling through the Balkans for 3 months this summer, and while I already have my main backpack (Osprey Farpoint 40), I'm looking to grab a daypack that I can use for the days and leave my big bag at the hostel. The caveat is I want to find a daypack that I can also use on a 3 day hike through the Julian Alps in Slovenia, during which I'll be staying in huts. Anyone have suggestions for a backpack that would work for both?

So I'm going on a 3 month backpacking trip from may-july this summer through the Balkans. My hope was that I would be able to edit my schedule on the fly, mostly booking hostels a few days before i got to each destination. However, I'm now looking on hostelworld to get an idea of what hostels to keep in mind for each city and it looks like the cities all throughout my trip already have most hostels nearly fully booked. Almost all of them say selling out fast and have only a few beds left! I don't want to end up without places to stay. Is the plan to book on the go not doable anymore like it was 10, 20, 30 years ago, or will I be fine. If i have to book everything before that's OK, I'd just r

Hiking Mt. Tomorr?

 Ask Albanians

I'm going to be travelling through Albania this summer, and am interested in hiking Mt. Tomorr. I'll be relying on public transit, and need to complete the hike in a day as I won't have camping gear or anything. My question is basically how feasible is this? Is their transport options to get there? Can it be done in a day? Anything I should know otherwise? Basically I just want to see if this is possible to do without my own car and camping gear or anything else.

I'm planning a backpacking trip through the Balkans this summer, and I'm struggling with how to format my time in Bulgaria. I'm thinking the main places I want to hit are Sofia (with a day trip to Rila Monastery), Plovdiv, and VT. I'll be there in mid may, and like hiking but not sure how inhibited that will be by the snow/weather. I'll be coming from Bucharest and leaving to Skopje, relying on public transit and I can't figure out the best order to get to each place especially with my limited knowledge of transit options. I'm thinking of spending about 5-7 days in total in the country, hopefully this seems like enough time. Any help with transit information entering and exiting Bulgaria as

I'm trying to plan a 3-5 night hiking trip this summer (Early July) in Triglav National Park. I'm trying to avoid Via Ferrata as I am a newish hiker and this is in the middle of a longer backpacking trip so I don't want to have to worry about too much gear. But I would like to get some good views, and challenge myself. This is a rough itinerary I've come up with after a minimal amount of research. I'm wondering if this may be too difficult, involve Via Ferrata, or just be a bad way of setting up the itinerary. Any help or recommendations would be super useful!

Night 1: Bohinj (Stay in Stara Fuzina)

Night 2: Vodnikov dom na Velem polju

Night 3: Triglavski dom

I have a solid team of all legendary and I’m wondering what the most effective method of training is? What type of coach, what order, etc. I’ll put a picture of my team below as well.
