Have been playing Space Age and still on Nauvis. Normally I'd build nuclear power but I've scouted pretty far (as far as areas with 20ish spawner nests) and only found a tiny 70k patch of uranium so far. I know you don't need much but that still seems like too little. Is that what everyone is experiencing or have I just gotten unlucky? I've found enough of the other resources.

I never really played the Heroes 3 campaigns back in the day but I recently reinstalled and decided to try the SoD campaigns. Overall the level design was fairly good (much better than the linear early RoE levels) and it was fun to build up crazy overpowered heroes over the course of the campaigns (though disappointing that they didn't carry over *between* campaigns as promised). There were some downsides though:

* It gets repetitive fighting vs Necromancer in most missions especially given the damn annoying shroud buildings

* A lot of the level designs are quite stressful with things like protected portals near your bases. Leaving your starting area often feels like a gamble where

Hi - recently my Pixel 8 prompted me to "upgrade" to Gemini to replace Google Assistant. However it seemed flaky compared to the old assistant so I turned it off in the settings. However now the original assistant doesn't work - when I say "hey google" I get a green microphone icon briefly in the top right but nothing else ever happens.

I've tried restarting my phone, disabling and enabling assistant, deleting and retraining the voice model, but nothing seems to help. Anyone else been able to fix this issue?

It wasn't all that hard if you use everything available to you - summons, buffs, scadu frags, and "OP" weapons. I one shot half the remembrance bosses and the other ones weren't much trouble. The only really annoying part was the first 30 seconds of the last boss because he attacks immediately and it's hard to get summons off, but the rest of the fight was ok at scadu level 17 - Lord's Divine Fortification was the MVP.

I do have some sympathy for the non-summoning complainers because I also enjoyed soloing some of the boss fights in Dark Souls 3, but a lot of the fights here were quite satisfying too. And it seems pretty clear that ER in general and especially the DLC were designed around t

Loving the game for the most part but had to come here to complain because I was having a deep into a great run with amazing synergy for once and then the game crashed the desktop. On restarting I was rolled back at the Crossroads like the run had never happened. Naturally on my next run I had garbage luck by comparison and ended up suiciding in Erebus out of despair. Seems like a pretty nasty bug.

Interviewing Grusch is one thing, but it seems more urgent to interview those who he claims gave him information - the people who claim to have first hand experience with UAP crash retrieval programs. Here's a few questions that I think would help get to the bottom of things: (FWIW I'm coming from a place of skepticism but also interest, as it seems something weird is going on)

  • Have you seen any of these craft intact with your own eyes, or only parts? Have you touched them? Describe them.
  • Same but for any retrieved pilots or creatures.
  • I know you're not an artist, but draw the above for me as best you can on this whiteboard.
  • How do you know that any of this is non-human? Did you

A few years ago I got Dark Souls: Remastered on sale, but I didn't have the right mentality at the time and didn't even make it past Asylum Demon, which seemed absurdly difficult. After playing (and mostly enjoying) Elden Ring recently I decided to give it another go. This time I understood the combat, stats, etc better and had a great time. I ended up going with a Zweihander + Havel's armour build which worked pretty well despite being a little slow.

The first half of the game was some of the most enjoyable times I've had in gaming despite some annoying areas (mostly Sen's Fortress, the Depths and upper Blighttown). The level design was charming with a balanced level of tension around mak

Recently read Urth of the New Sun fully after my 3rd read of BOTNS (had previously dropped it). I was a bit disappointed and felt that it wasn't really necessary. It wraps up some mysteries in a perhaps too-neat bow - things that didn't really need to be explained. It also seemed to mostly cut Severian's interesting and richly written philosophical musings from BOTNS only to replace them with a bunch of nerding out over the mechanics of sail boats, which was of no interest to me. It also introduced a bunch of new characters a bit too late in the story to care about them. It wasn't awful and was still Wolfe after all and had some interesting elements but I didn't feel like I gained much fro

I've been looking for a 4k 144Hz monitor. Some promising options include the Gigabyte M32U (or M28U), the LG GP950 and the Dell G3223Q. However when I search here they all seem to have a lot of problems including dead or stuck pixels, frequent crashing or black screens etc, with some people having to do multiple returns to find one that works properly.

Is this just an artifact of people who have issues being more likely to post on Reddit or are these monitors genuinely a lottery? And are there any reliable models or brands?

edit: in the end I bought an M32U, so far seems good and haven't encountered any immediate problems.

Trying to decide between two setups that cost about the same:

A: Ryzen 5600 (B550 motherboard), 32GB 3200Mhz DDR4, RTX 4080 16GB

B: Ryzen 7600 (B650 motherboard), 32 GB 5200 Mhz DDR5, RX 7900XTX 24GB

I'm leaning towards B because it starts with better CPU and RAM and will be more upgradeable (eg to a 7800x3D if needed) but unsure about going with an AMD GPU and missing DLSS/possible driver issues/etc (not too fussed about ray tracing). In the short term at least I'll be on 4k60 so the raw performance of both GPUs should be more than enough.

What would you buy?

In Diablo 4's previews there's been a lot of emphasis on the "return to darkness" and I feel like they've mostly pulled that off - the music, graphics, story and cutscenes fit the vision, and aside from some bland or cheesy dialogue they've executed it pretty well.

On the other hand, while the core combat flows well enough, the overall gameplay design feels like an unimaginative mish-mash of Diablo 3 and various other ARPGs and MMO-lite games. The idea seems to be a bit of everything - bit of crafting, bit of open world events, bit of dungeons - but none of it feels original, fleshed out or in depth. Items also feel noisy, full of ticky-tacky little stats (this might change at higher levels

I'm thinking of buying a 27in 5k LG Ultrafine for WFH since it'll be closer to the pixel density of my MacBook screen (my current 27in 4k is noticeably worse). Since 5k is exactly twice 1440p, it should work well playing games in that resolution, right? Has anyone tried this?
