My plant has been using a spreadsheet and a real junky request form to manage I/O for decades. I've never liked it, but never had an impetus to change it. Now we have a project that needs 800-900 points assigned over dozens of controllers and systems and I'm suddenly wishing I'd done something about this two years ago.

So what are you doing? Searching for commercial products for this just turns up listings for actual I/O or IoT stuff.

I recently had three separate L81's all seemingly experience the same unrecoverable fault within a 24-hour time span with no reasonable explanation. All three processors are L81E/B's on 31.015, with their own PSUs on UPS feeds with PQM's, and they're in two different buildings each with their own UPS. No other equipment had issues in that time span, there's no evidence of process upsets preceding the events, there's no abnormal traffic in the firewall and switch logs, and no notable events on any workstations or servers within my environment.

The weird thing to me beyond the three of the exact same make/model/revision failing like that in this proximity is that all of their clocks reset

What are you using for converting multiple 232 and 485 devices to Ethernet these days? I have a bunch of Systec NDS/6008RMs that have been in production for years, but I need some replacements and Systec has apparently gotten out of this space entirely.

Looking around I see a lot of more familiar brands only do single device converters, which isn't ideal. I'd prefer 8-16 device rackmount servers. Ideal with DB9 connectors.

I'm trying to use signature lines for the first time. When signed the "Signed by" line is way longer than the actual dimension of the signature line, which compresses the signature line and the signers name. Lengthing the bounding box also stretches the signature line and the signers name.

Is there a way to fix this so the signature line and name isn't distorted?

I'm currently in the process of sorting out a version control system for our Plant PLC's (All Rockwell save one). Simultaneously I'm looking for solutions for better managing our software licenses and it occurred to me that both Version Dog and Asset Center could probably handle that too, but how well? Have any of you tried this before?

Recently changed positions and my new role is more PM heavy than I was expecting. I took a PM course in College like... thirteen years ago and promptly went on to use none of it in the intervening years. I've been a technical lead and involved in estimating many times, but the actual PM services side of things is totally new to me. I'm in that hazy "I know I don't know a bunch of stuff, but I don't know what that stuff is" state of mind.

Have any of you taken a crash course in this stuff lately? A Udemy course, a book, even a proper post-secondary class that you would recommend? My new employer was aware of my lack of experience in this regard so I'm not under the knife or anything, but i

Does Rockwell have a way to track software and firmware releases? Like an email feed or subscriptions(s) or something?

For example I get an email every time Honeywell or Dell releases something so I can push it into our Patch Management process. I'm not sure how to do this with Rockwell other than periodically running through the download center for each product on site.

Hi,

I'm working on a sheet where a user specifies a source file to be used to generate additional formatted sheets. I have a macro that generates said sheets and opens the source file to allow them to populate, but I can't figure out how to get the source workbook to close.

Here's how I open the source workbook:

Dim wSh As Excel.Worksheet
Set wSh = ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Lists Formulas")
Workbooks.Open Filename:=wSh.Range("'Lists Formulas'!E3") & wSh.Range("'Lists Formulas'!E6")

Lists Formulas'!E3 is the filepath and Lists Formulas'!E6 is the source file the user selects. I've tried a few methods of closing it, for example:

Workbooks(wSh.Range("'Lists Formulas'!E6

I'm currently using the following to query disk health and export to a csv:

$HDD_Health = Get-physicalDisk | Select-Object -expandproperty HealthStatus
$Report = new-object psobject
$Report | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -name HDD_Health -Value $HDD_health
$Report | export-csv C:\blabla\bla.csv -append

This works just fine with a single disk, but with multiple disks it returns System.Object[] in the csv. Within powershell it returns the status of each disk sequentially, which is perfectly fine for my purposes.

Is there a way to specify a volume that isn't hardware specific? I looked at -ObjectID and -UniqueID, but those don't seem like they're what I want. Or

Hello,

I have a small bit of code that reads in specific cells in an xls file, creates an .htm file, and then appends the data with required formatting and etc.

This is the code I'm using:

import os
import xlrd

loc = "C:/Users/xxx/Documents/Py test/TestSheet.xls"
path = "C:/Users/xxx/Documents/Py test/"

wb = xlrd.open_workbook(loc)
sheet = wb.sheet_by_index(0)

for i in range(sheet.nrows):
    file = sheet.cell_value(i,0)
    Test1 = sheet.cell_value(i,1)
    Test2 = sheet.cell_value(i,2)
    Test3 = sheet.cell_value(i,3,)
    Content = str([ Test1+"\n", Test2+"\n", Test3+"\n",])

    with open(os.path.join(path, file+".htm"), 'w')

I'm setting up for some remote client testing and I'm having constant issues with task/routine watchdog faults.

I have four emulated controllers running four projects for different processes. Two of these are new and two are being modified from existing projects. The routines that are faulting in the existing projects have not been modified and obviously aren't faulting constantly on site, and the routines that fault in the new projects are ones copied verbatim (functionally) from the site projects.

I've tried unscheduling one of the regular culprits and also filling it with AFI's and the routine still faults frequently in both cases. I'm not very familiar with Emulating AB stuff and I
