Is anyone else’s n-parent like this? My mom is retired and spends hours a day watching AI-slop on YouTube and talking to chat bots. Genres like AI doctors telling her how she can defy aging and constantly getting validation from the chat bots. She’s spent thousands on groceries and supplements recommended by these AI videos, even though she has an actual doctor, who she barely listens to. She’s also become so fiercely defensive, even violent a few times, when I have tried to point out how awful this stuff is for the planet, explain how data centers are polluting entire cities, and how most of what it’s saying is BS. Much of what she watches, especially the AI doctors, even contradict themsel

How did you know your stomach was clear prior to a procedure? I had an endoscopy and fasted 12 hours. It was probably 14 hours by the time I was actually in the room. There was still food residue in my stomach. Now I am having a bone marrow biopsy at the end of September, similar thing. No food after midnight. My checkin is 7am, and the procedure’s at 9am. I’ll be getting propofol sedation and pain medicine.

I was thinking of eating light the day before, or maybe doing a full liquid diet. I will mention it to the nurse when they call to go over my medications, but I know this condition makes me an outlier, and they might not have an answer.

I have monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) that has possibly advanced to smoldering myeloma. So my new hematologist wants a bone marrow biopsy asap to get a baseline, because all of my tests have been bloodwork so far. Apparently the cells affected (IgA kappa) can be a more aggressive version of this condition.

If anyone has had this procedure before, what was the pain and recovery like? I’m no stranger to procedures like endoscopy and I’ve had a few surgeries. I feel kind of lost, because the hospital that my doctor usually works at is out of network for my insurance, so I’ve been handed off to a different hospital and their interventional radiology team, who I’ve nev

My psychiatrist lost his DEA license, and I have been taking alprazolam XR 2mg per day for 24 years. I know how dangerous abrupt withdrawal is, even when it is done in a clinical setting. Inpatient is not an option for me, since I have a job, cats, and some severe medical conditions that require very specialized care, and I’m about to get a bone marrow biopsy. There could not have been a worse time to be thrown into withdrawal.

You know those times when your n-parent is on one of their tirades, and you’re afraid to even leave your room? I have lost count of time times I’ve been stuck in my room, scared, emotionally bruised, tired, upset, sometimes all day until my mom goes to bed. I have a handful of chronic health conditions, and it always leads to a decline in my overall health status. I end up with low blood sugar from skipping meals, and very dehydrated. Migraines aren’t helped by not eating or drinking for hours. It makes one problem (her) quickly compound into a bigger problem (managing my basic needs and health).

A year ago, I bought a mini fridge for my room and filled it with some basics like tuna pouche

I was just diagnosed with possible gastroparesis on Monday, so please go easy on me. I was getting my regular upper endoscopy, I have to get one every 3-4 years due to a high genetic risk for GI cancers. Despite having fasted for over 13 hours by the time I was under anesthesia, the previous night’s dinner was still in my stomach. There’s also a bezoar in there.

I have dealt with stomach trouble for most of my life. I have had GERD since I was a teenager, a hiatal hernia, fundic gland polyps, I also had a gastric sleeve in 2015 that I still don’t regret. Plus I have some other medical conditions like a primary immunodeficiency, hypothyroidism, and suspected lupus (the immunodeficiency make

I didn’t get to finish my internship towards my counseling licensure, because I became severely ill and had a nervous breakdown. I wasn’t able to leave my house much, I had to be hospitalized about a dozen times over the course of about three years. I went into debt, which I have since paid off, stopped taking care of much towards my future, because at the time, I was so sure that I would not survive to see age 30. Not one hospitalization did my sister call me, which if you’ve been in those places, knowing that someone in the real world was supportive of you would have meant a lot.

Now it’s 15 years later. I never was able to finish my course work and internship towards get fully licensed.

This is probably quite random, but I just got in from washing my car. Then I started having shower thoughts. There were a bunch of mosquitoes hovering around my garage, but not a single one landed on me. I have been on SCIG for three years now. I used to be the person that they’d always flock to. I spent all summer itchy with mosquito bites. Now since I’ve been on this treatment, nothing. It makes me wonder if SCIG made my blood less delicious. Another plus of this treatment!
