This game is getting less and less worth playing

I'm stuck at the last task of mission 2 chapter 4 act 2, where I need to construct a generator. Basically I have all the materials needed except for the aluminum cable. As far as I know the only way to get it is through expeditions. But expeditions are getting closer and closer to being impossible to win and I don't get enough mercenaries tags to buy level-ups for the squad. I can't even win a single expedition now. What am I supposed to do?

I thought that if I filled up the bait chest outside my base with blue modded spears the AI would leave my walls alone. I have been doing that and same thing happened every time, they broke the bait chest, took all the spears and left my walls alone.

This time I put some extra aluminum wire in the truck and they took them but only half the amount of spears in the chest. Then they blew up 4 of my walls. Good thing nothing valuable was taken. However, the point here is their behavior changed all of a sudden. How come? Is it because they saw the aluminum wires and went "oh there must be some better loots inside the base. Let me blow it up."?

I removed the minigun on the weapon stand like Kefir said so I can leave base. When I took it out it just disappeared. It's not in my inbox or anywhere in my base.

Basically the trick involves trapping the zombies outside the elevator. But don't you need to kill the zombies to get the points?
