This is sort of a meta-hypothetical. Hypothetically, a genie appears and offers you the ability to make the sun invisible to you and one other person at will (details at end of post). But he charges you a certain sum of money.

Imagine he appears and offers this ability to alternate-universe versions of you for different values, at these price levels (in USD, converted to your local currency, with purchasing power differences considered):

  • $5
  • $50
  • $500
  • $2500
  • $5000
  • $25,000
  • $50,000
  • $75,000
  • $100,000
  • $125,000
  • $250,000
  • $500,000
  • $1,000,000
  • $10,000,000, and increasing multiples of 10.

What is the lowest price you would refuse, or highest price you would pay

I've been leveling some alts lately, and I decided to go back and get one alt of each class through their Legion order halls in order to get each class's artifacts, title(s*), and mount(s).

Part way through the Kingslayers quest for rogue, I started getting some deja vu:

The youtube upload seems to have been privated, but even this vimeo re-upload has 1.5 million views.

And to compare/refresh your memory, y

Minor update to my earlier TIFU post about getting my girlfriend hooked on Baldur's Gate 3 -- I let her finish her campaign on my nice computer, then we left for a 10-day trip (I had another work trip and brought her along). Now that we're back, I've got her set up with GeforceNow -- just the free account for now, but if she likes it we'll upgrade. She's playing my copy via steam family sharing, but I am expecting I'll buy her her own copy and we'll do more multiplayer together before too long.

The fuck-up on my part happened a week ago, but the consequences only really became clear today.

A week ago, I left on a week-long business trip -- my first trip since moving in with my girlfriend a few weeks previously. My girlfriend does enjoy video games from time to time, but I am much more The Gamer GF(tm) in the relationship, with the several-thousand-dollar PC, two monitors, big desk, the works. She typically just plays on her laptop or Switch.

(Before the move, we'd played a few multiplayer games together on my computer, including some Baldur's Gate 3 (local co-op) which she'd enjoyed... a moderate amount.)

Before I left on my trip, I decided to set up my computer with a guest ac
