Hello.

What is the best way for Canadians to watch the Australian Open?

I am unable to watch live, so I need something with a replay option.

TennisTV doesn’t carry grand slams.

The Tennis Channel isn’t available in Canada.

TSN+ doesn’t have replays or VODS.

I don’t have cable, and I am not getting cable in order to use DVR/PVR capabilities for 8 weeks out of the year.

Is there anything I have overlooked? Or am I just sol as a Canadian?

I’m big into wearing wristbands on my racquet arm for sweat absorption.

I have been using some Under Armor ones and they work fine.

I needed more, and I wanted to try a tennis brand. I’ve tried both Lacoste and ASICS now. Both have a similar problem; the “one size fits all” sizing is too small to even get over my hand (Lacoste) or it’s so tight it cuts off blood flow (ASICS).

I cannot believe that my hands are bigger than the pros or my wrists thicker than the pros.

Are the pros getting custom wristbands that fit better?

I’ll used Apocalypse Now as an example. That movie has four versions;

  • Theatrical (1979)
  • First Assembly [Director’s Cut] (1979)
  • Redux (2001)
  • Final Cut (2019)

It feels wrong that the IMDb page doesn’t differentiate between versions and that ratings for Apocalypse Now is a mix up of ratings from these four versions.

In this example (imo); Theatrical > Final Cut > Redux > First Assembly

I would rate Theatrical a solid 9. But Redux, due to its poor pacing, I would rate around a 7.75 (or a 7 on IMDb).

Is there a reason why they don’t differentiate on IMDb?

A couple of years ago, I bought a Head Speed XTR from sportchek.

Does anyone have any info on this racquet? The internet seems to have 0 information.

I can only find info on the Head Speed XR or the MP, nothing on the XTR.

I broke my strings and am wondering if it’s worth restringing or if I should upgrade to something more substantial. Any thoughts?

If I keep it, at the very least I want to bring it to about 305g unstrung weight (up from 270g)

I am curious if there is a way to block all news on my switch that pertains to the Switch 2?

I have no interest in the Switch 2 and it’s annoying having my news feed filled with Switch 2 news that is irrelevant to me.

Advertising games to me that are unavailable on the Switch seem like borderline predatory marketing tactics.

Hello everyone,

I now am at Bokashi as a method to deal with food scraps.

My current diet seems devoid of food scraps. (I eat chicken breast, brown rice, peanut butter & banana sandwiches, mixed nuts, frozen veggies and frozen mangoes).

Left overs/food waste is rare, as there is enough for the meal at hand.

With that in mind 90% of my food scraps is coffee grinds & banana peels.

Is this going to provide a nutrient rich compost that is worth investing into a bokashi bin system?

Costco is one of America’s most powerful and profitable corporations.

Costco is 100% American owned with all profits benefiting the US economy. Purchasing anything from Costco is directly benefitting the US economy.

“Buying Canadian” while still shopping at Costco is an oxymoron.

If Costco turned into a ghost town across our nation, that would be one of the strongest messages Canadians could make.

What would it take for Canadians to do this?

If Costco turned into a ghost town across our nation, that would be one of the strongest messages Canadians could make.

What would it take for Canadians to do this?

Costco is 100% American owned with ~95% American products. Purchasing at Costco benefits the US economy completely.

Obviously people feel that Costco is cost effective. That is one argument I hear a lot.

Counterpoint: in my experience, it isn’t significantly more cost effective versus alternatives. The ~10% cost savings aren’t worth the time loss experienced by going there in the first place.

I would like to point out that supporting the right to strike AND supporting a specific strike can be mutually exclusive.

Because I support the right to strike, that doesn’t mean people are supposed to outright support any strike that occurs.

I feel like the players that are part of the Canada Post strike don’t understand this fully.

Jeans manufactured in Canada?

ISO: Clothing & Accessories

Does anybody have any recommendations for men’s jeans (ideally work jeans) that are manufactured in Canada? As in, actually made in Canada.

I have no interest in supporting Canadian owned companies, like Du/er or Silver, who are offshoring their manufacturing.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions!

  • For work, I have decided to try out the made in Canada jeans from Big Bill. Maybe try their logger jeans for outdoor work.

  • The next time that I need a pair of causal/dressier jeans I’m going to try out Naked & Famous.

I enjoy hosting gameshow style streams. The only problem is I don’t really know what the best category to stream under, as it doesn’t fit any categories. Any ideas of what category I should go with?

Some sub-optimal options:

  • Just Chatting. It’s not just chatting, and since this is the biggest category, discovery is impossible.

  • Special Events. It’s not a special event, since it’s done on a weekly basis, nor is it celebrating something.

  • Talk Shows & Podcast. The focus isn’t on talking points, and the gameshow doesn’t fit the style of the rest of the streams in the category.

  • Card & Board Games. It’s not really a Card or board game. It’s a digitally produced game that contestants
