TL;DR: That guy makes new DM suffer for weeks, blaming everything on them and bragging about being able to nitpick.

So I wanted to play D&D with some friends, but I didn't know how important starting equipment (mats, multiple sets of dice, etc.) was, and I wanted to do a discord campaign because of it. In retrospect, at least That guy was never at my house, or I would likely have done something regrettable.

So I gathered a good group of 6 friends, none of whom had experience past 10 sessions except That guy, and thought that I could just make a fun, casual campaign. I thought it would be a fine way for us to all learn, since we're all inexperienced and could all learn together.

I've finished played EarthBound on my 3DS about 8-11 times, (I occasionally stopped at the cave of the past) and after each ending, I would disable one more thing. So far, i've disabled PSI freeze, healing, lifeup, hypnosis, paralysis, flash IF it kills (save states), solidification items, and all bottle rockets. I was wondering if anyone else cut out cheesy/powerful mechanics, and how so?
