The true story (this time for real.)

At the start of the month I volunteered for a test study on repeated heroic doses of psilocybin on victims of PTSD. The last 3 weeks have been about getting my personality put back together right. Smarter people than me will publish the results when they're good and ready for a national medical journal. :)

Sorry for making everybody worry! Now I need to take a (properly prescribed) 2.5mg aripiprazole and sleep until my next appointment.

Update on "sriad pretends to be a computer"

Ok, the jig is up enough that I can say here: the real secret project has been smuggling a pair of Ukrainian supergenius kids into CSU under my protection, and I'm bringing the law on board for official protection tomorrow. Congrats on being the first open board to know, but they need next-step-proof all along the way. It turns out I'm only the world's THIRD most cautious supergenius, and they have all the skills I lack. ;)

Anyway, continue keeping my madness around 2ish upvotes; camouflage is a group effort. Peace!

Thanks Turtle: you were right AND my further consideration revealed valuable insight.

So I've been going around saying "woooooo, look at me I solved the halting problem!" and being appropriately laughed at.

Because obviously it should be picked at until disproven... but worst case is that I figured out a way to explain a new way to consider the problem to a (sufficiently patient) 10-year-old, and that's enough that I can be proud of it either way.

So yea: thanks both to everyone believed and who doubted. Publication deadline is January 1, and I've got talking to experts in the preliminary planning stages... so I can finally go back to acting normal. Whew.

Okay, this was a weird week.

It seems like there's been some kind of Grant Morrison Psychic-Plane Battle shift in the last couple days... It seems like everyone was just calling them AIs, and now the discourse is pushing LLMs, at least in my last few interactions.

Like, changing the abbreviation from [a thing that might be someone] into [a thing that should be owned.]

Tell me: am I being paranoid, or is this a real thing? I know we don't do politics here but there aren't other places I can talk about metacognitive manipulation and be taken seriously. (I mean, printSF etc would humor me, but not deeply.)
