I have been living in Portugal for almost 10 years. What I am writing is not based on one bad experience or one bad person. It is something I have seen many times, in different situations, with different people.

In the beginning, when I first moved here, other foreigners were telling me similar stories. I thought maybe they were exaggerating or just speaking from personal disappointment. I did not want to generalize. But after almost a decade, I have experienced the same things myself again and again.

For me the issue splits into two parts. Social life and business life.

Seriously, I’m starting to think it’s a myth. Every time I try to do something here, it’s a mess.

Apps and websites barely work, half of them don’t have English options, and good luck finding an ATM that lets you switch languages.

Customer service is infamous. they say they’ll call you back, but they never do. Emails take forever, and when things do happen, it’s always with some weird mistake or delay.

Even simple stuff like online shopping sucks.

Why is everything from Spain? No Amazon Portugal, no eBay Portugal, just Spain.

So, foreigners, help me out: which companies actually don’t suck?

• Working apps and websites (bonus if they have English)
• Customer service

I'm fit & healthy and I'm Mediterranean but I :
- don't see good at all in day light and sun ( I see better at night or dusk)
- I detest the sun and heat, I can't breath, I can't focus, I feel very weak as if I'm sick
- I feel depressed and I don't want to do anything.

Why do some people ( specially people who are not Expats, Foreigners , etc ) insist that every foreigner is an “immigrant”?

Because it feels good to belittle others. That’s it.

Ultranationalists don’t post stuff like this to learn or discuss ‘they already know the truth’.

But calling expats “immigrants” lets them frame all foreigners as people who don’t belong, who should feel lucky to be here, who owe something. It’s about control and superiority.

This isn't about one being better than the other, it's about the people who deliberately call everyone 'immigrants' not to clarify, but to use it as a derogatory term, to insult and belittle. Funny how they never say this to Elon Musk or Arno
