There's a meeting tonight (July 17th) from 6:30-8:30 for public feedback on the Spot Pond Brook Greenway project. This project is working towards a better bike/ped connection from Malden Center north towards Melrose. This is a hybrid meeting, and you can attend in person at City Hall, online via Zoom, or submit email comments ahead of time if you can't attend either option. They are expecting a heavy presence from the "Keep Malden Moving" group who advocate for cars over all else, so if few pro-transit people attend/comment there's serious
There was a heavy police presence on the southern mile of the Northern Strand this morning, behind the Costco/Home depot. Between Encore and the wooden bridge over the marshland, I passed 4 groups of Everett police. 2 groups were on foot and 2 had golf cart like vehicles. They were not stopping or even interacting with cyclists or runners, so it couldn't have been anything immediately dangerous.
Anyone know what this was about? I've done that section hundreds of times and never seen one cop so this many definitely means something was up.

As I stopped in a bike box at a red light I heard someone say "shit shit" and then they clipped my elbow from behind at high speed, throwing me to the ground. Even after the collision, they continued barreling through the red light and did not stop to see if I was okay or exchange information. He was on one of the electric BlueBikes and gone around the next corner before I even finished standing up. He yelled "sorry" as I fell and left me on the ground in the road. My helmet cam confirmed that I recalled all these details correctly
I am now skeptical that the ebikes were a wise addition to the program. This guy would be an ass on a regular BlueBike too, but at least he wouldn't have been ab
[Boston Globe] A promised bridge over the Mystic River would be a missing link for Somerville and Everett. So where is it?

boston25news.com/news/local/first-grader-mald...I just got the email for season ticket renewals for the 2024-2025 season. My seats on in the middle rows of the balcony, and are going up from $76 to $87 per ticket. That works out to a 14.4% increase.
How are everyone else's price increases looking?

I'm curious what everyone's decision and reasoning is for how they handle this temporary bridge. It seems like every option sucks for some reason. The options I can see are:
- take the lane, do not filter (very slow)
- take the lane, filter to the right (narrow travel lanes right up the barriers and inattentive drivers has consistently meant you get stuck without being able to filter)
- take a lane, split lanes in the middle (more dangerous, cars aren't expecting it, but the fastest)
- take the sidewalk and dismount (very slow)
- take the sidewalk and bike (super rude to the crowded pedestrians and against the signage)
- avoid the bridge entirely by using the locks (out of the way and still
