[OC] SUV drove into oncoming traffic to pass me in a no-passing zone, speeding towards a blind turn.

reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/comments/1facbjp...One of the three motionless Metric machines, all identically shaped like an expressionist parody of a human, emulated a human-like voice that my brain could not accept as human. It wouldn’t let me believe it could come from a set of lips. It felt wrong. But I’m used to it.
“Your performance in the battle was 22% less efficient than your previous average.”
“Okay.”
“Aren’t you going to say it doesn’t mean anything to you?”
“You don’t listen when I do say it.”
“We are always listening.”
“I said it to you as an elliptical way of telling you not to tell me that anymore. I will try to hint less in the future and be more direct.”

I recently encountered the 1994 movie Nadja, a kind of indie/erotic horror vampire movie, which has a bit role played by Lynch in the film, but mostly just oozes 1990s indie movie coolness. I presume that Lynch's contributions to this film, aside from the bit role he played, were basically financial.

Emily is not a biopic but a fictional depiction of the life of the Brontë sisters, particularly Emily who wrote what's now a classic novel in her 20s. She was born the year after Jane Austen died, so they weren't quite contemporaries, but she was invested with a similar spirit, it seems.
I thought Brontë, not to mention O'Connor, would be of interest to people here.
Here's the trailer. That's Emma Mackey of Sex Education in the lead role. The movie released last Friday in the UK and doesn't yet have a USA release date that I can find.
Browsing some 40-year-old hot-100 lists and spotted this unfamiliar song, so I asked Echo to play it.
"Love's been a little bit [beebeebeep] me, by Juice Newton, on Amazon Music."
Heard that and did a small spit-take.
