Last night, I was making out with my partner and unbeknownst to me, he had eaten nuts earlier in the day. I usually don’t make a big deal about my allergy because, while it’s very severe, I previously went 24 years without having a reaction because I am so vigilant.

Anyway, we are making out and suddenly I feel “that feeling”. At first I thought it was just in my head so I ignored it. Not long after my eyes started swelling shut, my arms and hands started to tingle and my hands were hard to move (that’s new to me and was very scary), I was wheezing a bit, and I was nauseous. Luckily I chewed two Benadryl immediately when I recognized it was not a false alarm and things cleared up prett

AI is being sold as the technology that will reshape everything: work, education, healthcare, even democracy. Right now every serious AI tool is locked up behind paywalls and corporate platforms. A handful of companies and investors will capture almost all of the profits, while the social costs such as job losses, instability, and inequality will be pushed onto everyone else.

The thought experiment is simple. What if AI were treated as a public utility, the way we treat highways, water systems, or electricity. Free to use for Americans. Funded publicly, with governance by independent boards rather than corporations. Built to serve society instead of shareholder returns.

A system like that

Is it weird to buy my own helmet for taking grab motorcycle taxis? I’ve gone without a helmet many times, but I think it’s very stupid.

Title says it all. I applied and went through the nonsense and got approved. I certified once and got one payment. I went to certify today and my case and payment history is gone.

I was laid off. This is my first claim. There was a fraudulent claim made in my name during the pandemic (which I reported to their fraud department) that I only found out about when I applied.

Has this happened to anyone? This system is crazy. I cannot believe all of the problems I have encountered. It’s very scary if this is normal.

Title says it all. I don’t really know how to strike a balance. If I fall for somebody (which, to be honest, is quite rare) I will walk to the end of the earth to make sure they are happy. And I am happy to do it. I think it becomes unattractive to guys.

Outside of dating, I am a rather opinionated and vocal person who has traveled the world and is familiar with many aspects of international politics and issues, I have a good career where I am considered to be an effective leader with professional standards that are nearly non-negotiable, I have a dark sense of humor, I am not afraid to strongly speak up if I believe something is wrong or people are being mistreated, I can be fairly domin

I just want to express my gratitude. I returned from a two week stay in Bangkok about two weeks ago and my experience and the city has been on my mind since. I have traveled alllll over the world and, for reasons I cannot yet figure out, Bangkok has taken the spot as my favorite city on the planet.

I was apprehensive to travel to Bangkok after what I had heard about it - the sex, the partying, the “danger”. I didn’t go to Bangkok for nightlife, I didn’t go to Bangkok for sex tourism. I participated in neither. I frankly didn’t know what I was going to find when I arrived.

I was expecting such a different experience than what I had. Instead, I found genuinely polite people, a city th

I have recently started hanging out with a guy and while we didn’t initially talk much about our jobs, I learned that he works for Meta. At first it didn’t totally register because I live in a tech city, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like there may be a difference in our ethical/moral compasses.

Before Zuckerberg became a Trump ass-kisser and started doing weirder shit, I probably wouldn’t have thought a ton about it (although, I am suspicious of anyone who works for these companies), but now it’s bothering me.

Am I being weird about this? I am kind of on the verge of telling him it’s not a good match even though we enjoy our time together.

His ordering of the opening of dams is distressing being that we are constantly fighting drought. Of allllllll the things he has done, this bothers me the most. It really seems he is trying to harm California.

Please don’t mistake this bothering me for being even close to ok with anything he is doing. I just feel like we have more control over the other things - the weather and rain we do not.

Is there nothing anyone can do?
