Hi everyone,
I’ve read a few posts discussing whether it’s okay to quit your job after lodging a Subclass 190 visa application, but most of the posts I found are more than a year old, so I wanted to ask again based on the current situation.
I’m currently in Queensland and was invited for the 190 visa under my nominated occupation. One of the Queensland requirements was to have worked in my nominated occupation for at least 9 months, which I have now completed.
I lodged my 190 visa application exactly one week ago, and I’m now considering leaving my current job. If I do leave, I’m planning to work in a different job that is not related to my nominated occupation while I wait for the vis

Hey everyone, happy Saturday!
A bit of background about me: I have a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and around 8 years of construction experience back home. I already have a Civil Engineer skills assessment through Engineers Australia, but I’m hoping to improve my chances of getting PR by obtaining a Quantity Surveyor skills assessment as well0.
I recently finished my Masters in Construction Management and I’m currently working as an Estimator (5 months), though I understand this experience won’t count just yet.
From what I’ve read, Pathway 3 seems to be the only realistic option for me on the AIQS website. For those who’ve gone through it, what are my chances of getting a positive
So we booked a car with dealers and deposited $500 because of the weather last week and the car of choice was parked wayy at the back - couldnt take out for a test drive. We are getting a finance through the car dealer and that has been approved. We’re heading there today for an inspection/test drive and hopefully to finalise the deal.
The issue is that we emailed the dealer asking about the service history, number of previous owners, recent inspections/mechanical checks, any major repairs, etc. It’s been 4 days, and we still haven’t heard back. We’ve called a couple of times too, no response. The finance guy said the salesperson is moving house and will respond soon, but we still haven’t r
I took my 2015 Kia Rio to a mechanic due to a persistent jerking issue. The car stayed with him for over a month. During that time he replaced the gearbox, replaced the ECU, and re-programmed it twice, telling me the issue was electrical, not mechanical, worked fine for a couple of months. The total cost was around $7,000.
It’s now been about five months since those repairs, and the jerking problem is still exactly the same as day one. I brought the car back to him to re-diagnose it, and his only response was: “I cannot do anything, I’m sorry.”
No explanation, no suggestions, just that.
My question
Is he really allowed to just say “sorry” after doing major and expensive repairs tha

So, I bought a 2015 Kia Rio (automatic) in December 2023, and at first, everything seemed fine. But by September 2024, I noticed a jerking issue when shifting from Gear 1 to Gear 2. Since this was my first automatic car, I thought it was normal—after all, automatics are just manuals with robots shifting for you, right?
Over time, the jerking got worse, and eventually, I had full-blown shift shock where the car refused to go beyond Gear 3. Reverse was even worse—it felt like the car was physically fighting the shift.
I took it to several mechanics, and finally, one of them pinpointed the issue: The ECU was completely responsible for everything. Apparently, the transmission itself was fine

Issue with Kia Rio 2015 Automatic – Persistent Jerking & Gear Shift Problems
I purchased a 2015 Kia Rio (automatic) in December 2013. The issue of jerking while shifting gears began around September 2024, primarily when shifting from Gear 1 to Gear 2. As this was my first automatic car, I initially assumed it was normal, but the jerking gradually worsened. Eventually, the car experienced shift shock, where it wouldn't change gears beyond Gear 3. The issue became severe, affecting all gear shifts, with the worst jerking occurring when engaging Reverse.
After consulting multiple mechanics, I finally had the gearbox (transmission) and ECU replaced. The mechanic diagnosed the problem a
Hey everyone, I currently have an issue with my 2015 Kia Rio (automatic) where it wouldn’t shift past 3rd gear and was revving too high on the freeway. I took it to the first workshop, and they told me I needed to replace the gearbox.
Since they were taking too long to source a part, I went to another mechanic, told him what the first workshop said, and he immediately found a second-hand gearbox with 40,000 kms on it. I agreed to the swap, assuming he would confirm the issue before replacing it.
Today, I went back to test the car after the repair, and the same problem remains. The mechanic’s response? "You told me to change the gearbox, so I did." Now he say
