Hey guys. I just had an idea, and I was wondering what r/rpg thought about it.

I've started DMing recently, so I don't have that much experience. When planning the encounters, I make a note of the monsters' initiative bonuses and roll initiatives before the combat. I just had a thought that it might be easier for me to roll initiatives when I stat up the monsters - that way I can write them down already in initiative order, and also it doesn't give away how many monsters there are to the players.

If you're a DM, do you/would you do this? If you were playing, would you think it was a bit weird if the DM didn't roll initiatives?
