So at some point my 1980 CM400t was converted to have an early 70s CL350 drum brake on the front, and so I can’t use the speedo drive gear as there is not enough clearance on the front. I tried using a cable on the drum brake where it slots in, and I’m not getting any feedback from the cable. Wondering if someone knows what can cause this?

So I have this 1980 honda cm400t and I don’t have a switch for the brake lights, front or rear. I looked at the handle and it’s aftermarket and no where to fit a switch. I ordered an OEM lever and controls for the right handlebar that has the switch in it but there was no starter switch on that one.

After spending an hour trying to track down where to install an aftermarket starter switch I got, I had to give up. My bike also has drum brakes in the front and rear, I’ve looked at other similar bikes they all have a disc brake in the front, so most of the handles I come across have a master cylinder. Could I still use one of these with my bike that uses drum brakes? I’m at a loss of what to
