Dear Shudder,

Remember video stores? You know, the place where horror fans used to spend time browsing titles and art for the next movie pick.

Well that's part of the experience, and whar. SHUDDER used to mimic with nice, readable tiles.

Since the refresh, this experience has gone away with tiles that are small, narrow, and hard to read. It seems that the tile aspect is something that Shudder (or the user) should be able to control in the settings. I dont need 3 rows of tiles if I can't read the titles on any of them.

The UI experience is essential for user engagement with the platform. I find that I am watching Shudder less, and browsing fewer movies, sadly finding fewer gems. Eventuall

I'm doing some contract work in Humbolt and looking for a short-term rental from June through August. Open to suggestions in Crescent City and south through Klamath. Thanks!

Went from a wonderful, full sized aspect ratio with great information and video-store browsing, to a smashed, stretched aspect ratio with limited info and smaller tiles that NOBODY can see or read. Wtf Shudder? Your entire fanbase grew up looking at the covers and backs of movies in video stores!!

To this point, I've enjoyed building smallish skiffs, 104hp or less. Now I'm up to 550+ hp and for the first time, am considering a 4 row (12u) x 126hp rack. Basically, a furniture instrument.

Anyone care to share their experience with larger racks? I'm interested in factors like ergonomics, heat, playstyle differences, wall vs skiffs, etc.

I'll lose portability, but I don't venture out much to play anymore and it sure looks like it would clean my setup up a bit.

Thanks!

Can't wait to dive into the great collection of 70s and 80s vamp flicks that just dropped. Thanks, Shudder! Any recommendations?

I'm a saavy consumer and usually use my consumer habits as a barometer for how the overall market is trending.

For the past few years, I've gone modestly bonkers in Eurorack. It's great, and it seems like there was a wave of us doing the same.

But I've noticed this year, since 2025, my purchasing has slowed to a stop.

That got me wondering- what's the rest of the community doing in terms of buying in the hobby (and generally).

How would you describe your current buying habits (GAS). Are you increasing, decreasing, or slowing to a crawl?

A good percentage of posts on this sub have to do with problems with the shudder app.

I found that by force starting the app everytime makes problems go away.

On Roku, when starting the app, right click instead (* button) and select "Restart App" to start.

It clears the buffer, opens right up, and starts streaming problem free right away.

A small investment makes the SQ1 super jammable.

Knobs are Davies 1900 Clone Knob - Heavy Duty - Brass Insert (12.5mm OD) in Clear.

Often the question of how or what to include in a rack build comes up and inevitably someone will answer "it depends on what you want to do" , which may or may not be helpful to new modular addicts. I thought I'd share my process.

The following "tasks" correspond to "What you want to do" with tool ideas following.

  • Create Sound: Oscillators and oscillating devices (incl filters and envelopes)
  •  Tune Sound (to a scale): Quantizers
  •  Generate a Sequence (pitch, triggers and gates): Sequencers, Envelope generators, Turing machines, Euclidean rhythm generators, etc.
  •  Filter Sound Harmonics: VCFilters, EQ's
  •  Shape/Fold Sound Waves: Wave shapers and wave folders
  •  Boost a Sound Signal: G

At the sounds that have emerged out of a session.

Has anyone else felt chills, heard angels singing, or otherwise just had an emotional experience with modular?

Tell us what can be when you sit down to patch.

Waiting on a Planar 2 to come in stock, I was recommended the Tesseract Stonk as an alternative.

I bit. And wow. 12hp. A performance joystick. With cv processing (lfo, envelopes, Euclidean), audio processing (filter, reverb) AND a 4 track looper! The audio loopers have opened up my skiff significantly. Layers of sound. The joystick is a Befaco and is a great, tactile addition for performance.

Anyway, I thought I'd highlight a new module that I haven't seen talked about much.

Here's my skiff: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2428675 And if interested: https://open.spotify.com/album/14BZbVkYfCd14ZKn4BXbJ4?si=DGMW9jd5TPueI6C6ESSlXA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A14BZbVkYfCd14ZKn4BXbJ4

This is more than a rtfm post. I want to point out a tip to help people with the "what should I buy" question.

Manuals are artifacts of a company's culture, philosophy and approach. Meaning that a manual will give a user insight into the device AND what kind of company is offering the device.

How does the company introduce the device? Some companies give an introduction, some history, and personal insight/anecdotes throughout. Others provide diagrams, signal flow, etc. Check it out. Does the manual make sense? Is it well written and we'll organized? Is it descriptive or cryptic?

Does the manual encourage creativity and exploration? Are there spelling or formatting errors?

There's so
