Church Leaders have taught that the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible is a restoration of the original text which had been corrupted over time. Church Leaders have taught that the Book of Mormon is absolutely an ancient text. Today the Church’s scholars and apologists are moving to a framing that acknolwedges a significant amount of 19th century material in the Book of Mormon that has the Book of Mormon at least in part be a modern production and text. I held a poll to gauge interest by topic for this series. BoM-BoA-JST is currently neck and neck with Law of Chastity and sex, so we will probably skip around Reel's list a bit to cover those topics first. The item for this post was interesting enough to have separate post. But in the future I may group similar items together in a single post to save time.

Let's get started.

This is a survey to gauge interest by topic for our Prophets and Fallibility discussion series. I have taken the time to go through all 59 items on the list and broken them out into categories. This survey didn't have room to put all the categories, so I selected a few of the larger ones.

Let us know what you would like to talk about next!

Introduction

Recently, a user by the name of u/BillReel made a post to the mormon subreddit:

Over the last couple years I have accumulated a running list of three facets that deal with Mormon Truth claims.

Those lists are titled:

  1. Prophets and Fallibility: A Record of Mormon Leader's Reversals and Abandonment of Past Teachings
  2. The Mormon Paradox: A List of Inconsistencies That Challenge Faith
  3. The Mormon Truth Crisis: Examining the Deception and Obfuscation Within Mormonism

u/BillReel frames these lists as "new resources to help Believers investigate the truth claims of Morm

Exaltation as defined by the LDS Church in the past (and even some places in the present) meant that you would be like God and get your own planet.  Today the Church officially dismisses the idea.

A couple days ago there was a post from someone talking about ending their life. Their account is now deleted and they didn’t leave any information behind about reaching them.

As I read through the comments on that post, I think our community did an outstanding job offering support and encouragement for that user. However, I also saw things said in several comments that are specific “Do Nots,” according to the experts, when talking to someone who is suicidal. I think some general knowledge sharing can be beneficial for our community and anyone we may end up in a position to help. That is the purpose of this post.

Why Should I Love Myself: Follow Up

Faith-building Experience

A few weeks ago I made this post as I was preparing for an EQ lesson. I wanted to post a follow up about what I prepared.

For that lesson I came up with a 4 step starting point for loving ourselves. This is what helps me when I am struggling to love myself, so I thought it might be worth sharing.

Step 1: Find an anchor point.

The point of this step is to focus on something that you really believe in and that helps anchor you in feeling the Spirit and God's love for you. It could be that you are a child of God, that Jesus died for you, reminding yourself you have divine potential, recalling a powerfu
