I was curious so I looked this up and I think it's appropriate for posting here. Here is a web page about the different types of DNP degrees, as well as their explanation for why they were created. As has been pointed out here, 7/8th of the DNP degrees are not about clinical diagnosis and treatment. The clinical one is only 1/8th of programs and is even the last one listed here:
