The plant world of Dretelia! Twins realms of nature on the surface, and dysfunctional suffering below!
bit.ly/DreteliaI'm new to the software. I'm making a Frame Text on the page, and every time I am typing, the text tries to balance itself out between the left and right columns. I just want to start typing in the left column, then flow into the right column only once the left column is filled. I don't see any settings that are obviously making this a problem, and I've tried several ideas and things to fix it, with nothing working. Help?
I don't want to go the classic "people go here when they die" route. I want to design something new that has a different visual feel to it, while still being a separate layer that has a theme of suffering and an otherworldly atmosphere/feel. I need to be able to picture something identifiable as an underworld, but I need help figuring out how to put my own aesthetic spin on it.
Can you pose some questions that might help as prompts for me to design what makes this strange place look unique? Thanks much! :)
My player has specifically gone with a sub-optimal Echo Knight 11/Chronurgy Wizard 2 for funsies, so they can have a fighter that feels like she subtle manipulates timelines and space. I love the flavor. Moving into the middle of Tier 3 and going into Tier 4 play, I wanted to give her a niche in the party beyond just combat, because she really loves exploration. She's the only martial in a party of casters, and the disparity is already growing.
I'm toying with the idea of allowing her Echo Avatar ability to use her Light, Mage Hand, and Shape Water cantrips while her consciousness is in the Echo and moving up to 1000 ft. The Echo is not designed to be interacting with objects. I understand
TL;DR: Why does it seem like every monster I check has a much lower damage per round than its stat block suggests for calculating offensive CR? Also, where do some of these numbers come from?
I'm looking at an ancient red dragon, just for an example. My problem is with a discrepancy between the DMG's CR table for Offensive CR damage per round, how much damage per round the dragon does, and why its damage numbers are what they are. I'm trying to understand this so I calculate properly how to make my own monsters.
The ancient red dragon does a multiattack. That's 21+ 14 from its bite (35 total), and 17x2 (34) from its claws (69 total, nice). I'm not sure how the extra fire damage is arrived
A shopkeeper NPC sells ONE single item per day, in a blind/silent auction format. Only one person is allowed into the building at a time. There is a line around the block to get in. It's well-guarded, with magic protection against "cheating" to reveal the item. There's an entire gimmick around NPCs lying about what the item was when they leave the shop, in order to try and dissuade others from beating their bids.
If I make the items boring or mundane, the PCs will think that the store is a relatively useless novelty, and are likely to not interact with it any more. If I make the items fantastic or powerful, but the PC's can't get ahold of them, or they're always bought by another NPC, t
