NOTE: A lot of cope and rough math with assumptions based on consumer-grade RAM in this post.

Been a lot of discussion about this today. Figured I'd drop a few things in that might be helpful. First of all, people are shocked by the large price jumps: an extra $250? A 25% price increase!? ...well, yeah. Unfortunately, and it isn't too surprising, because of the RAM-

"Yeah, yeah, the RAMpocalypse, but 25% more is insane! Way higher than the price jumps on other hardware!"

Okay, that's a fair point- it's definitely higher than other price hikes. However, I'd like to point out something: I bought 2x24 GB (48 GB total) of DDR5 RAM back in Nov 2024. It cost me $103. For me to get that now at

I think the big thing I can see as a problem is wear on the battery if it doesn't passthrough like modern phones do.

That and I'd want to have it on a surge protector rather than a wall outlet- it's one thing for a phone battery to take one, it's another for a battery right next to my skull. Also not doing this during thunderstorms.

I do not want to be the first person killed by a VR Headset because the battery exploded due to lightning strikes- I don't think any company can engineer around that.

Honestly, I think I might just be running into a case of "that's how it's supposed to be" but I figured I'd ask here.

Essentially, when playing a flat game like Deadlock in SteamVR theater mode, even though it runs great normally, it performs way worse. I'm not doing any fancy stereoscopic stuff so it should only be rendering the game normally, right? It's basically going from being able to run on the highest setting to literally needing to go to the lowest setting to run.

I've got SteamVR Home closed so that I'm sitting in the loading screen (the Construct I think it is) with the colored mountains in background. I don't think it should be that much load on the system to run that part? So

Essentially title: how does the dongle connect to the headset radio (since it has a dedicated one for the dongle)?

I'm one of those madmen (aka network admins) who actually set up pretty good Wi-Fi in my house so I don't really need the dongle. However, I would like to take advantage of the second radio so that I have both connections connected to the same Wi-Fi network, but each one dedicated to a purpose (the one for streaming, the other for internet/downloads/etc).

Obviously this still puts both radios connecting to the same AP, but the APs I installed are small business grade so one extra connection is hardly going to hurt, and it's got a gigabit wired backhaul to the network.

So, I've recently been learning a lot about Ansible for work, and decided to set it up in my home VMs to play with a bit. Specifically I'm using ansible-navigator as that's what I'm training on.

However, I am running into an issue which might just be a case of "use an older version of podman" and or "don't run the EE on a machine you want the EE to target" but I wanted to check here. In my trainings, I can have the ansible-navigator run the execution environment against the machine the execution environment container is running on, no issues.

When I try the same thing with my home setup? It fails. I tried the same playbook with ansible-playbook and it worked just fine. In addition, I spu
