Bargaining Update
Today, we resumed talks with Treasury Board, and have received a new offer from the employer. We hope to continue bargaining this weekend in order to reach a fair deal for our 120,000 federal public service members.
Talks are also ongoing for our 35,000 members at Canada Revenue Agency.
We’ll be providing no other details at this time.
What’s up this weekend?

There have been quite a few comments on the sub recently from picketers who have a union Member ID, but they were not sent a barcode. The barcode is simply a visual representation of your PSAC Member ID, so that you can scan in/out at the picket line, instead of having to sign in/out manually with your number on the sign-in sheet or use a QR code, which rotates daily (and I'm not exactly sure how the QR code works).
I've spent some time testing various barcode generators last night and today and, thanks to u/AntonBanton who performed the actual testing on the PSAC app, we've found a solution.
This barcode generator will make a barcode that you can download to your mobile device and use to
Mods, I thought this required a new thread for visibility, but lock comments as you deem appropriate.
Hello,
We understand we have had some issues with our National Picket Line finder. We are asking you to please refer to our Atlantic page https://psacatlantic.ca/atlantic-picket-lines/ to find shift times to choose from, or instructions, for your specific picket line.
Members in HRM – Some shifts have changed for TB – Please refer to the website for the new shifts
Please circulate this information widely, let your colleagues know that we are all in this together! Union members that stick together, win together!

The past two years have been hard for workers everywhere. The cost of living has hit highs we haven’t seen in 40 years, and our members are struggling.
Every day, we see that our dollar doesn’t go as far at the grocery store or at the gas pump. We’ve heard from many of you that you’ve had to take on debt and make sacrifices just to make ends meet.
After bargaining for nearly two years without a contract, tens of thousands of PSAC members participated in strike votes across the country and have voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking strike action if necessary to secure a fair contract that makes sure our members don’t fall further behind.
Together, more than 120,000 hard-working fede
No surprise, really.
Let's see if this finally forces the employer to come with a new mandate, or if it'll be the same old routine and we hit the picket lines.
Considering the PM and TB called to discuss a potential deal before the strike vote was announced, this will put even more pressure on them.

Hang on tight, brothers and sisters.
Over the last few months, we have been conducting strike votes for members in the Treasury Board and Canada Revenue Agency bargaining units.
We are confident that we will receive a strong strike mandate from our members. The government is sure of that as well., they are worried about the power 165,000 workers will have when they are united.
We have reports that some departments and managers are encouraging PSAC members to continue working in the event of a strike. To be clear, continuing to work during a strike – even if you work remotely – might seem harmless, but your actions can jeopardize negotiations and hurts your coworkers. Your manager knows this.

I'll get to the point; I'm in Canada and Evergreen is expensive so I'm looking for options. I've done some research on the topic and there is a store local to me which carries something called HIPS, and I'm wondering if it can be used in substitution for the Evergreen styrene sheet (I typically use .020" or .030"). HIPS is high-impact because it apparently contains a percentage of rubber, which normal styrene doesn't have. The price difference is remarkable, with the HIPS coming in at a fraction of the cost of Evergreen products (a 12" x 12", .020" sheet is $0.75, compared to $9.00 for the Evergreen)
Is HIPS suitable for scratch building, and is it a good replacement for Evergreen?
For anyone who has missed their chance for an info session but would still like to vote, PSAC has added an additional info session on 11 Apr at 7 pm EDT and it will probably be the last one. There are currently just over 4800 spots available, so now is your chance to register and have your vote count.
edit: This new session will be found under the "National" filter when you look for it.
