We're looking to replace my gf's Elantra with a Civic. I love MTs and tried teaching my gf but she insists on getting another auto again. But I at least want something with a manual shift option since I do have to drive her car occasionally.

My question is when the Civic is in full manual mode (i.e. transmission in S, paddles have been pulled) is there any kickdown if you floor the gas pedal? Like if you are in M6 at 35mph and you floor the gas pedal will it automatically kickdown to M2? Or will it just continue to bog in M6?

I ask this because older Mazdas and BMWs would still kickdown unexpectedly in manual mode. But now both manufacturers allow you to disable it
