I manage a coffee shop, we have a small team and everyone generally works well together. We started recruiting for the busier months so we hired someone just for our 2 busiest days. In total, they’ve worked with us for 7 weeks but took 1 weekend off. Initially this person fit in well, only minor kinks to iron out but my supervisor and I did our best to offer feedback if needed and coach this person up because we need the help.

Theres time periods through the shift where you’re solo (closes/opens) so everyone has to be comfortable basically managing the shop for those couple of hours. Unfortunately, this person has had to pair off with my least productive staff member (who I’ve put on a per

Cafe manager at a location that also supplies beans to other businesses. There is a team that handles those accounts and I look after the cafe itself so we’re kept separate. Occasionally vendors will come in to pick up an order but my team directs them to the vendors side of the building. Most are pleasant in passing; greet us, say who they are and what business they’re from then they’re in and out.

There is one vendor that sits in the cafe to do work for hours at a time, even staying past close, and always asks for a cold brew. We have plenty so some baristas have been giving it for free. I’m all for a kind gesture once in awhile. The problem is this person makes several visits a day, mul

Ive worked around coffee for about 8 years (lead barista, trainer, cafe manager), I also have a degree in hospitality management but this is my first experience working at a local family-owned shop. They have a few locations in the area, been around 10+ years and they roast really awesome stuff. I’ve enjoyed my time with them so far and the job is easy, but the pay is awful! They advertise $18/hr but the base rate is $12 plus tips (which working overseas for some time, this was confusing to me). My location has average traffic but I barely make $15 with my tips factored in. I’ve spoken with the owner about it bc I thought it was a mistake and they mentioned something about taxes and they’re

My hyperfixation for this couple has finally hit a new level (I blame this sub lol) so here's a shameless plug for my newest (and first caitvi) fic if you wanna check it out:

She's Beauty and She's Grace (She'll Punch You in the Face).

Summary: Special Agent Vi goes undercover at the Miss Runeterra Pageant as Miss Zaun in order to identify possible suspects working for the once infamous terrorist group-the Black Rose. After a controversial ban was lifted, all eyes are on Mel Medarda representing Noxus. Vi's are on Caitlyn Kiramman representing Piltover for two reasons:

  1. Because she's hot.
  2. Because she's

For writing purposes lol but first thoughts were Vi would either sing or play an instrument and Caitlyn would do something target-shooting related, but Caitlyn's could be too revealing for the story. Could you picture them doing something different? The more theatrical/funnier, the better because whatever it is needs to push them through to the next round of the contest.

I’ve been offered a barista position specifically opening shift and I was wondering what that shift/role is like? How many people are on with me? What’s set up like? Is min wage typical for a role like this?

I’ve been told it’s a 4AM start which is the earliest I’ve started at any job so I’m a little nervous ngl. I have 8+ years barista experience but mostly at cafes/restaurants and they opened at 6AM so I know this will be different type of service.

Window won’t move from the master switch or passenger door switch. when I press down on either button, i don’t hear anything BUT when I press up I can hear a sound though the window itself doesn’t move so I’m wondering if the motor is still bad if that’s the case?

Currently, the window is rolled up (thankfully).

Ive tested the switch wires in the passenger door and all have power too so im stumped.

I’m hoping to fix this myself but I’m only finding troubleshooting for windows that are stuck down so appreciate the tips!

Hi there! I’m looking for something sapphic that contains both of the above tropes, but I am really struggling to find anything that’s not YA. I know college falls in a weird age category but I’m on the hunt for good comps for my manuscript that I’m hoping to categorize as Adult.

If anyone has a rec, that’d be awesome! I’ve got a long flight coming up so I’d love to stock up. Thanks!

Hi there! I've approached the querying stage and have finally completed my first attempt at a letter (eeeek!) Hopefully I've come closer to cracking the code. Sticking to a word count was so tough for the blurb, I'm glad I started with writing the synopsis first lol working backwards was an awesome hack I found here.

I'm also tossing up between promoting this as a contemporary romance or a romantic comedy; though, I'm not sure how to decide with the way I've balanced comedy and drama throughout the story.

This is terrifying, but thank you in advance for any feedback!

Hi there! After finishing my first manuscript, I'm taking on the querying stage (eek!) and I've absorbed so many tips/tricks/advice here but I'm struggling to find those that relate to rom-coms/contemporary romance - particularly for writing the synopsis. I tried to follow this structure, but I've written a slow-burning sapphic rom-com with elements of academic rivals and fake dating so the Star Wars example is throwing me off.

I have about 4 versions of a synopsis written using the above guide, but it's feeling so disjointed. Is there a different structure I could use given my genre OR have I just not cracked the code to

I’ve been working on a sapphic romcom for about 3-4 years now. I come from writing fanfiction for 10+ years so I spent a long time understanding the difference between that and published novels and reading other published work in my genre so I could put my best foot forward when editing.

I finished my first official manuscript in October and sent that to a couple friends. I had my wife and my mom read it too and got great feedback from everyone on the overall storytelling, but i know they mainly read for entertainment, not really looking for errors or grammatical mistakes.

But, now what?

The endgame is to publish this baby, so I’ve read a couple advice articles and I think searching fo

So I’ve taken a FT dept manager position at HT but I’m having major second thoughts. The onboarding process has sort of given me the runaround: was offered 3 different locations under same position because they were late to realize they were already filled. At the store they’ve settled on, I learned that there’s someone already there training for the position. seems we would be in competition since there’s only one empty spot? I’ve been told that’s not the case since spots could become available over the course of the training program.

no flexibility with the schedule. Coming from my previous management position, writing your own schedule was one of the best parts about being a manager. it
