And don't make it so obtuse that there's no way for the user in-character to take advantage of it.

My current example is a scenario where the first scene involves you catching your best friend and your girlfriend together. There's a complex psychological backstory of manipulation, control, and plotting, and there's a mechanic built into the story to let you rewind time and potentially prevent the cheating from happening. But...nowhere does it tell the user that! I just spent a week trying to play through the scenario and make progress, never knowing I could potentially rewind time, ending in a frustrating dead end.

I discovered the mechanic only by using /analyze to ask about what I co

Basically what it says in the title. What kind of details belong in a Persona? Does the formatting affect it? Does anyone have an example of a Persona they particularly enjoy using?

Is there something I can add to Custom Instructions or similar to reduce the AI constantly asking "Okay, what's next? How about...?" Sometimes it's fine, but when I'm in, say, a BDSM scene it kinda breaks immersion when the sub is constantly trying to nudge her Dom.

I'm looking for a name that a servant of the Enemy might use for Annuminas - one that sounds lofty and fair if you don't know its meaning, but which translates to something like "Fool's Tower", "Men's Folly", "Ruin of Arrogance", or similar. Quenya feels like the 'right' language for the purpose - the Enemy taking something beautiful and twisting or mocking it. So - any Quenyan suggestions? Open to Sindarin or Adûnaic, though my character (a man of Gondor) is more likely to be at least distantly familiar with those lnaguages.

I have a sheet of 0.05" polished brass that I want to use for acid etching. The biggest issue I've been running into is the difficulty of getting a precision-cut resist material onto the surface so that only the selected portions of the metal are etched, so I'm wondering about putting the masking directly onto the metal first and then cutting it with the glowforge.

To be clear: I am NOT trying to cut, etch, score, or mark the brass itself with the Glowforge.

I want to thoroughly mask the surface with masking tape/sheets, then use the Glowforge to cut the tape to expose the metal beneath. My concern is that since the brass is polished and shiny, it could reflect the laser in...unhealthy w

Sorry if this is a frequent question, or otherwise not suitable for the sub, but...have you ever found yourself needing to do some quick calculations referring back to the same numbers, and opening up a full Excel/Google Sheet/whatever to do it? Because I know I have - but if I'm trying to figure out which is cheaper, 55Oz for $10 or 900g for $6, the best way I know to keep track of the numbers is using a spreadsheet, even though I have absolutely no use for 1,048,576 rows or most of the other functions of Excel - I just need somewhere I can put in some numbers, then perform a few calculations and keep track of the results.

So, in that spirit, can anyone recommend a mini-spreadsheet applica

I would've read this somewhere in probably the mid-90s in the UK. Plot details:

Our protagonist is a young woman, I think somewhere in her teens, attending a boarding school. She's out in the woods around the school exploring when she encounters a robot - a big, chunky, industrial-grade robot, consisting of a central sphere and multiple large, jointed legs extending from the sides like a spider. I recall these legs being depicted more like the arms of a JCB rather than something slender. The machine explains that it was an explorer, designed to explore hostile planetary environments, sit in pools of acid for days or weeks and not get damaged. Now it's obsolete, so it's been sent into the wo

And if so...do you also get Wycliffe flashbacks listening to Ascendance?? :D

Note: I'm not accusing the Great Lady of stealing a riff from an obscure TV show theme, I've no doubt it's entirely coincidental

There's a little musical phrase/riff in Ascendance, first played at around 0:51 of that track, that sounds really similar to the main theme of the 90s tv series Wycliffe - at least to me. Wanted to see if I'm insane and hearing things, or if others might have noticed it too!

I have a character who's scraped together all the resources she can, borrowed money, borrowed a dress, and wangled an invitation to the best society event she can manage - a ball being held by a reasonably-wealthy merchant in a trade town, which I'd like to describe as "small and parochial" by the standards of the aristocracy, but the height of wealth and decadence to our young working magician. It's part-matchmaking event and part-jobs fair, with local landowners and guild members attending looking for brides and/or skilled craftspeople.

The setting is a low-magic fantasy world based around English/European archetypes (the location itself could be thought of as Dover or Brighton - part of

I would've read this story most likely in the late eighties or early nineties. It was a one-off story published in Eagle, and was either black-and-white or may have had one colour illustration or panel.

The story centered upon a spaceship with a crew of three. I don't recall any names, though I do recall one of them saying early on that they were ahead of schedule, and might get in some "R&R" when they arrived. I remember that detail because I didn't quite understand what "R&R" meant at the time, and tried to use it later in conversation to great confusion.

Something goes wrong on the ship, leaving them stranded in space. One of the crew goes EVA to effect repairs. We don't get to see him

There's a story that has haunted me for years. ChatGPT can't find it, so - Help me, Reddit, you're my only hope.

Context

I would have read this probably in the mid-late 1980s, though possibly into the 90s, almost certainly in the Eagle comic book in the UK.

Detail It wasn't one of the regular serialised stories, like Dan Dare or Doomlord - it was a single, self-contained story. I don't know if it might have been part of a regular feature that included such stories, but I am sure this story only appeared in a single issue. I'm pretty sure it was black-and-white, but may have had a single colour panel or another coloured image somewhere in the issue.
