The company I work for has created a pretty cool policy to provide us with additional PTO hours specifically to use for volunteer work. It’s 40 hours for the year, so I’m hoping people have some recommendations for groups that maybe have some annual events where they need some extra hands.

I live near Butchertown so preferably looking for recommendations of groups operate within the metro area that people have enjoyed working with. I enjoy working with my hands and being outdoors, I’m able-bodied and don’t mind physical labor. To be frank, I’m not a religious person and don’t particularly enjoy working with churches although I completely acknowledge and respect the work that they do. Perso

I just went through my orientation and we were told that for the next two weeks I will be on call and need to check every night to see if I will need to appear the following day. Also, I was told that even if you are selected to serve on a trial, you are still on call for the full two weeks.

What was your experience? Did you go the full two weeks without ever appearing? Did it turn out to be a day or two? Was it relentless appearances over two weeks? When you did appear, was there a lot of downtime?

I posted this yesterday but it was removed as I was still on my last high when I posted. Tried to finish off my stash so I knew there was nothing in the house. So now I'm posting again, totally sober and not making excuses, this is really my day 1. I just wanted to externalize my story and hope that somebody can relate.

I'm probably about to lose my job. I've been working there for 3 years and have absolutely no interest in what I do. Since I started working from home in March I've completely disassociated with my life and reality. My job performance absolutely tanked, and I have a meeting with the owners next week that I know for a fact isn't going to go well.

I've been wanting to make a

I saw on Twitter today that #SexAdviceForYourPartner was trending, so I opened it up expecting to see people of whatever gender lightly ribbing their partners on what they could be doing better. What I actually saw was 100% sex advice for men on what they're doing wrong, and nothing in the other direction. While I'm sure the advice was completely warranted, it struck me how one directional everything was.

It's not an entirely new thing I've noticed, but there just seems to be this double standard where we recognize that women have unique sexual needs and that most men have learned about sex from porn and therefore get a lot wrong, but men are essentially all the same and have the simplest s

I've been seeing a girl with a gorgeous Australian Shepard that is overall a pretty good dog, but has a strong herding instinct and so when he feels it's time to go to bed, he'll bark relentlessly until we go to bed. I've tried ignoring him to no avail, so I'm looking to see if anybody here has experience with this.

For more context, the dog is a 3 year old male Aussie. We've always trained our dogs very rigorously as puppies growing up, but I don't have a ton of experience correcting behavior in an older dog.

This happened a while ago, but I went to return some video games at the library and the guy checking them in told me he was surprised I wasn't doing this. Apparently it happens pretty often. It had never occurred to me and I personally wouldn't do it, but thought it fit in this sub.

Last night I feel asleep on the couch with her cage open, she left and slept on the wood floor next to my sliding door. I just checked the surface temp at about 60f. I woke up this morning and she is limp, her tongue is out, eyes closed. I believe she is most likely dead.

I tried to give her a bath in room temp water to see if I could warm her up but there was nothing. Now I have her under heat lamps wrapped in a blanket.

I have read stories online of these animals being amazingly resilient through extremely cold weather, do I have any chance of recovery?
