One of the things I loved about the oldest of Old School is how limited resources were and how players had to often retreat and regroup in order to push forward. We would often have some hirelings around to watch our mule at the entrance. Or even drag some poor mule through the dungeon itself. as torches ran out (thank you shadowdark for re-popularizing this!) and obstacles couldnt be dealt with, parties would have to retreat and hire more bodies, get different equipment. (god dammit, I thought YOU had the rope!)

Bear with me, I tend to ramble.

Ive recently gotten myself a truck camper (since you asked; it's a sweet 8 1/2 foot rig with all the comforts of home for a gentleman alone in the woods or desert) And Ive been playing some solo games while camped. (and yeah sitting in the snug camper while the PNW rain hammers the roof. Entirely disconnected. Glass of whisky and nothing to do but entertain myself with a game. Its exactly as awesome as it sounds)

I've been poking around, getting to know the resources for Solo RPG play. And I'd like to lean on others experiences.

So I went out for one last "pre-winterization" run this weekend. Beautiful little spot that involves several miles of decent logging roads to get to. good spot in the late fall because there are only four spots making spring and summer crowded.

At any rate - a storm moved in and around midnight I woke to heavy rain on the roof. Nice and cozy...but midnight wake up means some needs are...needing.

Thats when I learned it was raining in my bathroom. The heck? I am sure I closed the vent. So I screw it closed and....its still raining. Shining a flashlight upward reveals that the vent cover parted ways with my rig. Probably shouting "I regret nothinnnnng!

So my new to me Northern Lite didnt come with a winterization siphon hose. and my searches for similar terms arent coming up with anything but kits to add valves and other oddities that Im not sure will attach to the existing valve. NL doesnt seem to sell it directly (it should be common enough, I would think)

do you all have any particular terms I should search for? a preferred site for finding such things? (I've tried etrailers, amazon, other usual suspects)

I was disappointed to learn I couldnt charge the Delta 3 from my trucks onboard inverter and make use of the 400 watts. But Im considering biyuing the delta 3 and the 800 watt vehicle charger. BUT I dont trust myself to install it properly in my pretty and new truck. Are there professional installers that are recommended? what sort of a cost might i expect for that service? 300? more?

So I now have a 2003 Northern Lite 8-5. Its a beautiful rig. it has some aged bits. But one of the things is that despite it having all the paperwork and documents - the details of things is...lacking. the winterization valve diagram is only vaguely related to my rig showing a different valve set up. But that might be neither here nor there because as I understand it, the winter circuit is just to keep antifreeze out of the hot water tank. My problem is that the water pump just runs and does nothing. nothing comes out of the faucet. The best I could get was a couple gurgle sounds. I have verified the pump does the pumping because I let it pull water via the antifreeze intake and that got me

I have an opportunity, if all works out, to get an. 07 Norge. Its higher mileage than typical and the price reflects it. But from my long time guzzi relationship, the amount of miles is really not much of a concern. I expect it might mean a new clutch and some seals this winter. But hey, who doesnt enjoy getting a new toy and then taking it all to pieces?

Im aware of some fiddly things like the crazy-pants design around checking the oil and workaround. Im also aware of the tendency to warm up the riders legs. Not to mention the fiddly and prone to failure electric windscreen actuator.

Other than that, Im not aware of any terrible drawbacks. I expect it will need some finagling to suit my

This morning I booted to discover fraction scaling is not working. Which I kind of need to make the different monitor resolutions I have useful. Font scaling is not what I want.

I suspect an update I took yesterday fubared it. But I would have no idea how to chase that down.

What ive got so far - Verified that the DCONF setting is present: [Scale-monitor-framebuffer'] but the DCONF editor notes that the schema for mutter/experimental-features is "not found" which would explain why that want working

SO bluetooth for my MX Master 2 mouse was working yesterday. I booted up today to no mouse control. Bluetooth is reported int he settings as "no bluetooth found". Ive tried a different bluetooth settings app and it comes back with (paraphrase, the GUI wont let me copy):

"Bluez Daemon not running. bluetooth not detected or bluetooth daemon not started"

After some net searching I tried

sudo bluetoothd

It appears to just sort of hang there. I waited five minutes before I killed that

In my searching dmesg seems to be a thing so I sudo'ed that and got:
