I got a bunch of filament today, mostly refills and I put a few together. Two rolls of PLA basic were completely normal and the two rolls of PLA matte came with a different sticker than usual (an improvement though, easier to peel off the backing) but the cardboard roll seems like it must have been a mm or two smaller than normal.

Both were extremely hard to get on the roll, to the point where I had to push down with both hands as hard as possible to seat it, and I couldn’t pull out a couple of the bands that secure the filament.

The rolls of PLA basic just dropped on.

Or is that just a PLA matte thing? I don’t think I’ve used refills of it before.

So, I just recently updated my unraid server to a intel CPU, and I'm giving openvino a try instead of my old nvidia card (would be nice to pull it for the power savings) and since I'm using openvino and not onnx I've noticed a change in the logs.

onnx will have a line in the logs to the effect of its loading frigate+ <address> but openvino does no such thing, but everything appears to be working as I would expect.

So is that just how openvino works? Or am I like silently falling back to a generic detection model?

As an aside, openvino seems to be working fantastically well. Better than the GTX 1070 and at like 10% of the power.

Anyone else just occasionally make stuff up based on what you had handy and discovered some great ice creams?

So far my best are:

Cinnamon vanilla:

2 cups milk (or substitute of choice)

1/4 sweetener/sugar of choice

1/4 tsp xantham gum

1 tsp vanilla extract or paste

Plus however much cinnamon you like, I never actually measured it.

I usually add toasted pecans as a mix in.

Chocolate almond:

2 cups milk (or substitute of choice)

1/4 cup sweetener/sugar of choice

1/4 cup cocoa (more or less, depending on how dark you like you chocolate ice cream)

1/4 cup almond butter

1 tsp xantham gum

I actually prefer this without mix ins, but its not bad with walnuts or pecans.

Anyone else have a partially broken UI on iOS 26?

No drives show under main, and updating containers doesn’t have any text.

So, with frigate+ models running on nvidia now (via onnx) has anyone experimented to see if there is any real difference in accuracy?

I assume that power usage is lower of course, but I’m curious if it’s worth running onnx if you‘re already going to be using a gpu for video acceleration/search/genai.

OK, so I ran into a super weird bug/quirk tonight with my voice pe.

I moved it to a new room and when asking it anything the led ring did the typical spinning while it processes but instead of answering it just started blinking two LEDs and never answered. After a minute or so I clicked the button on top and it finally answered.

So it turned out that for whatever reason it would just sit and wait until I hit the button before speaking.

This of course required some investigation.

I eventually checked my network, ubiquiti in my case, to see it was on a different access point than before but that shouldn’t cause an issue. Well, apparently the only difference in setup between the two APs i

So Bambu has some really great sales on right now, the a1 mini is $250 CAD and the a1 is $440. As far as I can tell the a1 is just bigger build volume (and hotter bed, but I'm honestly not terribly sure how important that is) so I'm wondering if the a1 is worth $190 more for a first printer or should I look elsewhere to start?

I'm not THAT concerned about the build volume, though it would be nice of course. But it's a big jump in price, especially when I'm just starting to learn this stuff.
