I've decided to pass my Paperwhite on to my kid. I'm primarily going to be sideloading classics and having her use Libby to get library books.

I don't want to use a child profile (which I do have for them) because it's too limiting at this point.

Is there a way to change accounts on the Kindle without factory resetting it?

If I factory reset my Kindle and create a new account for them am I going to have to pay to remove ads again?

If I create a regular profile with the email attached to their child profile is Amazon going to automatically flag it as a child profile?

I realize it's pretty esoteric but what do we think the odds are of getting a native XTC conversion option in Calibre?

TL;DR - Do we have any hints when the next gen x4 will be available in the USA?

Has anyone used both the x3 and x4 and want to share an opinion on the size difference?

I have a first gen x4 and used it daily. Yesterday I accidentally dropped it from a second floor balcony and it didn't survive 😭 (I would upload a pic but the screen froze on a page of fanfiction that doesn't need to be shared 😂)

I obviously need to replace it but I can't decide with what.

I feel like the x3 may be too small but I like the button placement on it better than the x4. Anyone used both that wants to share if the size difference is noticable?

I'm definitely interested in the x4 v2, it looks like it has buttons

With the new Kindle updates (5.18.6) is there any way to get a non-DRM ebook directly from Calibre to the Kindle without going through Amazon? I know I can use the kindle email or the "send to kindle" website so don't @ me if that's your solution. I want to send my books directly from Calibre to the Kindle storage but every way I used to do it isn't working anymore (It looks like it works on the Calibre end but the book just doesn't show up on my Kindle)

I'm showing my age here (and ignorance of eink). I have some wallpapers I quite like that are mostly black. Is there a danger of damaging/burning the screen with a dark wallpaper like with old CRT displays?

Is there is a way to send epubs directly to the xteink from Calibre (via the 'send to device' button) or do you have to go into the files and manually transfer to the SD?

I've been frustrated with the amazon ecosystem for a while now (for all the usual reasons) and the sideloading issues with my Kindle on 5.18.5 are finally a deal-breaker for me.
I'm about to breakdown and get a Kobo Clara Color and was wondering if anyone has had any sideload issues with it (or any other Kobo) with Calibre? My understanding is that Calibre recently added native support for Kobo so it shouldn't require any complicated setup (which I'm willing to do if needed, it's just a bonus if I don't have to).

I have a huge Calibre library and plan to use the Kobo almost exclusively for sideloaded content but I still occasionally get library books so the Libby integration is a bonus.

I have my server set up and the android app installed but the app is not recognizing my server address. I'm using a VPN, would this affect the connection?

I spend a lot of time tagging all my books in Calibre and making sure the book description is correct in the comments box. Is there any way to actually see this information once I have loaded this book to my Kindle?

I use Calibre regularly, one day I open it and by books are gone. I checked and all the epubs (and related meta files) are on my computer where they have always been. When I check the settings, Calibre is still pointed at the correct folder, but for some reason the books aren't showing. No filters are on, they just aren't showing up at all. I tried reconnecting Calibre to the folder and it says it's already connected. If I add new ebooks they show up in the connected folder, next to the old books, but only the new books are visible in Calibre.

I broke down and uninstalled and reinstalled Calibre (7.23.0), pointed it to the old folder and it looks exactly how it did before the reinstall, on

I got a notice that my account is restricted and I need to reset my password. Fine. I go to my account settings and request a password reset and immediately get an email with a link to reset my password. Wonderful. I follow the link, put in a new password, and get the error "your password reset link has been used or is expired" (paraphrased). What???
