As you all know, we have to perform our thread binding ceremony before we get married. My bratabanda has not been done but I will get married without my parents consent. I dont think I will do the religious ceremony for the wedding but should I do my bratabanda or should I just let it pass?

Will I also not be able to perform my parents' final rites then?

Avoid Daraz as much as you can

Discussion/बहस

I bought a vacuum cleaner and tried to return it when it was overheating and giving me shocks. The customer care just told me that these were minor issues and that they would not be able to issue a refund.

I was so shocked. I would not have sent it back if I felt safe using it.

What am I supposed to do now? Risk burning my house down or electrocuting myself and loose my money?

I went out to protest the last two days. And even went out to see what happened after the burning of govt buildings. I live in ktm. I saw the army pointing guns and assault vehicles towards protesters.

All hope is not lost. Yes, the movement allowed some gunda forces to do what should not have been done but which revolution has been picture perfect?

Do you really think the only place the govt keeps data is within that thotro singha durbar?

Thank God the army has taken control but even late at night yesterday, there was no reason to be scared. You just built fear in your own heads overthinking.

I grew up in India and really thought I fit in well with the fabric there but working in Nepal and then going to the USA made me realize all the times I had been insulted and treated poorly that I just became desensitized to in India.

In the USA, I feel much more at ease and protected. Most people try to mind their own business and dont go out of their ways to harm other people. Atleast from my experience people are ready to help and stand up for you when someone is being an asshole. This just made me realize how much difference in culture there is between Indians and Americans, like how they treat people who are so culturally similar to them.

Anyone feel the same way?

We believe that the soul moves on from body to body according to karma. So why do we need these elaborate rituals after death? What purpose does it play? Is it just mourning customs so the living may cope?

Isn't death supposed to be the last act of separation from the material realm? If so then why do we attach so many material rituals along with it?

At my undergrad and now at graduate school, I have noticed that Professors from China just do not reply to students. Especially if they are in the Math/Stat department.

I am worried if there is an etiquette I am not following. I am always very courteous and to the point. Other professors always reply to me and have a very good rapport with me. It really gets frustrating sometime as the information is so often time sensitive. Is there a cultural difference I am not aware of?

Their education and medical services are free to all citizens. And they are richer than us by a lot. But our economy is more developed than theirs, with the share of agriculture in our economy shrinking and tertiary sectors increasing. While Bhutan's economy is still dominated by agriculture.

Is it just stable government and good policy?
