I'm applying to be a first year tax preparer (tax course in progress). I'm in a large city, if that's relevant.

I just had a call with my local staffing lead, and they told me that I should expect to work full time during the peak season, which they described as being from the "beginning of March to end of May". This surprised me, because I imagined the peak season would be more like 3 weeks (late March - mid April), not 3 months.

I'm self-employed and need to work 20+ hours/week for that (flexible hours). So I was hoping to be able to do just 20-30 hours/week for H&R Block to not burn out. I could probably swing 40-hour weeks for a couple weeks, but not for 3 straight months.

So can y

My 20 year old bonus daughter has every depression symptom in the book: low energy, no motivation, no interest in former hobbies, etc. She doesn’t want help, and claims that she’s “fine”. She spends 80+ hours/week staring at screens (video games, youtube, etc), and actively avoids anything productive or healthy. She's in therapy twice a month, but she doesn't take it seriously. She is slipping further into depression over time, including a recent SH incident that she says happened because we have been (super gently) encouraging her to get a part-time job.

Her perspective seems to be that her depression isn't that bad - that she just happens to prefer laying on the couch all day every day c

I’ve been fostering for almost 2 years now, mostly older teens. I currently have a 19F who has been here for about a year. Note that kids “age out” at 21 in my state - she’s almost 20, so the plan is for her to move out on her own in about a year. She has bonded with us really well, and we get along fine day to day, so that aspect isn’t a problem. She has very few “behaviors”, just normal teen things. We plan to keep in touch when she moves out, but we don’t plan to financially support her at that point (maybe helping out a bit here or there, but not like paying her rent every month).

According to the social workers, 19F is doing really well in our home. She is not doing drugs, not pregnan

AITA for losing my virginity?

Character Discussion - General

My (19F) first boyfriend “Bean” and I dated in high school, then broke up after about a year. He was my first love, and I his. We stayed friends ever since, and we really reconnected recently, which has been amazing. All those old familiar feelings came rushing back.

The other night, I lost my virginity to him. It was spur of the moment, but great - he was so nice throughout, and made it a memorable first time. We even decided on a song to be “our song” afterwards - “Candy Man” (you had to be there). It was perfect.

The problem is he is currently seeing someone, “Tinsley” (19F). He said they are pretty much over - it’s clear she’s not a good fit for him. She constantly nags him, and make

Hi all - I've had fatigue issues for several years without a clear reason. I have a few diagnoses I've picked up along the way (main one being kidney disease), but nothing that really explains the level of fatigue I experience, or the way exercising makes my fatigue so much worse (possibly ME/CFS-style PEM, but not diagnosed as such as of now).

Anyway, I found the NASA lean test online, and though I'd try it at home. Why not. Had my husband help out and take notes. For the first few minutes, my BP was similar (112/80ish resting and leaning), my heart rate went up but not crazy high (66 resting, 98ish leaning). But after about 4 minutes, I suddenly felt very hot and very nauseous. My husband

Approximately four years ago, I was approved for a medical accommodation that reduced my workload without reducing my pay. My manager at the time, and the HR director at the time, both approved it. My annual salary stayed the same, and I had a specific job requirement removed from my plate.

That manager and HR director both left the company about 2 years ago. At that time a new manager and HR director came in. My accommodations continued as before - no problem. Both the HR director and manager were well aware of my accommodations setup, and continued to approve me for my reduced workload with my full pay for the last two years.

Recently, I requested a small additional accommodation. The

I know general advice is to not speak to police without a lawyer, but this situation is so ridiculous I’m tempted to talk to them.

Long story short, I saved some of my money in my bank account, with the intent to gift that money to a certain person (adult, not a minor). Then that person started treating me badly, so I changed my mind and decided not to gift her the money. The amount was about $5000.

Now that person plans to call the cops and claim I stole that $5000 from her. She is likely to lie and say the money was hers and she gave it to me to store for her (not true, it was never hers, she just “felt like” it was hers because I told her I intended to gift it to her).

I'm not sure if my situation is a true "startup", but two friends and I want to work together to make an app (I'm the developer, the other two will be making content and art for the app). One person is proposing that we split everything equally - costs and profits. So I would be paying 33.3% of server space, developer accounts, etc, and if/when the app earns money, I would get 33.3% of those profits. Simple as that.

Is this normal? Am I missing anything? For example, if the app does take off, will we regret not registering as a business and setting up something more formal? If the app doesn't take off, is this just going to become a pain in the butt years from now when we're needing to manu

I'm a relatively new foster parent with my first long-term placement. We were open to ages 6+, and were surprised when we were asked to take in a 19 year old (extended foster care in my state goes through 21). We accepted, and she's been with us for about 5 months now.

Our goal is/was to help prepare her for the real world. She ages out of foster care in about a year, so we wanted to help her work toward an education and/or a job, and help her shore up her independent living skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, setting up appointments, etc) before she has to move out.

But in practice, she spends pretty much all day every day playing video games and/or scrolling on her phone. We can get he

Hi all. I’m a foster mom, and I take in teens, including 18+ teens (extended foster care). I currently have a 19F, and we have built a pretty positive relationship in the few months she’s been in my home. Overall she’s a great kid. But a point of frustration has been around how she approaches money - she spends every dollar she has, no matter what.

My husband and I meet all her needs, so she only pays for “wants” - she doesn’t have to pay rent, utilities, anything like that. We pay for enough groceries for the whole household, but for example she pays if she wants to go out and get fast food instead of eating at home.

She has a part time job, and makes over a thousand dollars per month,
