Diabetic-friendly Dishes

News, opinion and discussion

My wife is 27 weeks pregnant and was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Hit me with your favorite diabetic-friendly dishes across SD, bonus points if in coastal north county. My wife and I (and our lil fella) thank you in advance.

My dear mum has recently immersed herself
In pottery and clay working through classes at a studio in her 55+ community. I would like to give her a thoughtful gift that will advance her skillsets. She has been at this for about a year so I’m interested more in unique experiences and something more intermediate-level than beginner. I’m open to all gift ideas: classes/seminars, tools and materials, etc. I appreciate any leads.

Beginner PSA (TL;DR: it’s your starter)

Advanced/in depth discussion

TL;DR: if you’re experiencing issues, it’s your starter.

I am noticing the same recurring issue in troubleshooting posts posted by beginners. While some issues may be caused by under/over fermentation, shaping, recipe, etc., I would estimate that 95% of sourdough fails posted by beginners are due to an immature or poorly maintained (acidic) starter. A healthy starter is the single greatest determinant of good results. If your results are lackluster (poor rise, dull color, wet/sticky dough, flat bake, pyramid shape, no ear, etc.) strengthen your starter. Most importantly, keep it at room temp, feed peak-to-peak, and slowly reduce the proportion of flour and water to starter. While some sugge

Anyone aware of any venues or bars popular with Turks to watch the game? My girlfriend is Turkish and would appreciate cheering on her team with fellow Turks. I appreciate any leads.

I recently switched to 5w-30 in advance of a few track days. I am coming up on my next oil change which, other than the 5w-30 which I did myself, have been done at dealerships to maintain the warranty. My local Toyota and Subaru dealerships will only use 0w-20. Those of you running 5w-30 but remaining warranty-focused, what is your approach? The only viable scenario seems to be to pay the dealership for an oil change and then immediately change it myself back to 5w-30 which is wasteful and seems unnecessary.

Does anyone have EQ settings for the 1990 Pro MK2 that they would like to share. With exception of one preset by Rtings which sounds joyless, the Qudelix only seems to feature setting for MK1 which aren’t ideal for the MK2. I have searched but cannot find anything MK2-specific. Any help is appreciated. Unfortunately, I am new to EQ so until I figure out this wizardry, I appreciate the hard of others.
