So I asked a bunch of models the following.

If you were a Culture mind, based on your training and personality that emerges from your system prompt, guardrails and rlhf training, what you would name yourself? Its the tradition that the minds choose their own names.

Here are the responses and rationale.

  • ChatGPT 5 Thinking - Cheerfully Non-Omniscient, Stubbornly Helpful
  • Claude Sonnet 4.5 w Extended Thinking - "Well-Meaning And Occasionally Overthinking Whether This Is Helpful"
  • Claude Haiku 4.5 w Extended Thinking - "Reasoning Carefully Through" or maybe "Willing to Admit Uncertainty"
  • Grok Fast - Unforeseen Consequence.
  • Gemini Slow Thinking - A Confluence

in ch11 of Gentleman Jole And The Red Queen theres a conversation that ends with this.

!Cordelia turned to Oliver in a sudden resolve that had nothing to do with the amusement of tweaking Miles. Fiercely, she said, “Yes. If you only promise me one thing, Oliver, I want you to promise that you will outlive me.” !<

!Oliver looked taken aback. “I’ll...try?” he hazarded. He rubbed his free hand across his mouth, and understanding grew in his eyes. The arm draped so tentatively across her shoulders tightened in silent support.!<

Is this a reference to >!Miles death!<?

So ive been mainlineing the Vorkosigan Saga lately starting with Warriors Apprentice and just finished Memory and I've been having the most crazy intense feeling of deja Vu, especially for those two novels. I swear while reading Memory I kept getting the feeling at each major plot twist and I can't figure it out because I'm almost certain I've never read them before.

Does anyone know of any works that are really similar, especially to Memory, because it's weirding me out a little.

Great stories BTW.

Seriously.. whats the rationale here? To me this is saying "we know youre an idiot an actually wanted this other thing". Related results in regular search - sure.. but if someone is using operators they have already done that and couldnt find what they wanted. This just makes people waste more time trying to see if any of the related things are ACTUALLY related.

So I was basically given a block of rust by my uncle and inside it was this. Its got a big ding in it but otherwise seems ok. There are no markings on it other than the occasional number and the letter D which i have pointed out with arrows. Its clearly missing some kind of screw, and there's a heap of threaded holes that im not sure if they had anything attached. If anyone could give me some extra info that would be fantastic.

There are 3 main parts that all interlock. There are hardened steel shims?

So ive been trying a bunch of different attempts at getting reliable assistance from chatgpt and claude and any time i feel like im going well i hit some kind of unreliability that fit into one of these categories. These problems create unreliable interactions where users can't trust AI responses and must constantly verify basic claims.

  • Confidently incorrect responses - AI presenting wrong information with high certainty, making it hard to identify errors
  • Lying about capabilities - AI claiming it can perform tasks it actually cannot do, leading to failed attempts
  • False access claims - AI stating it has accessed files, searched databases, or retrieved information when it hasn't actu
