I have been to Lebanon multiple times and usually travel with my local friends to events but most of them to have moved out of the country.

So I'm looking at this two days festival which is 50km outside Beirut in the mountains. What would you do if you were me?

Renting a car for a single event seems overkill.

Getting there by a taxi/Uber will probably work but how do I find someone to bring me back?

I've done multiple trips to Bali before for sightseeing. None of it was recently (~10 years ago) so it's hard to understand how things have changed.

This time I'm planning to return for a month long stay with the main focus being beach bars and music nightlife.

I usually cook and spend most of the day at my accommodation and going to the beach or any other touristy activities is not that important.

Where shall I base myself as the good event places seem quite spread out (Finn, Klymax, Engine Room, Savaya, Club Corazon)?

Obviously, I'll be commuting to those places. Anything that is within the 30min commute and offers good value accommodation will be good.

A while ago Rakuten Card discontinued their prepaid cards. Those were very convenient because they could be used as disposable cards, issued and reissued and topped up thus had an actual limit which user could control.

Now, Rakuten has released a separate app that should in theory work the same.

I don't seem to find a way to make it work. The workflow is that the account owner sends an invitation to a family member, then the recipient should install the app, create a rakuten account, type auth code and use the prepaid card.

I'm getting into an infinite loop - after successful login in the dedicated Rakuten account, the app keeps asking to login. No error message, nothing.

Anyone got i

Years ago I gave up on direct debit after my bank refused to block payments to an uncooperative merchant. Since then I have been using card payments for all my utilities.

My card is expired this month. None of the merchants have contacted me to update the card. Nevertheless, I have been checking my card statement and have been updating the card with each merchant.

I noticed, that some of the merchants already had the new card details. This could have only happened in coordination with my card issued (Rakuten) because I replaced the card 3 months in advance.

So this begs the question, is this common? Can I expect that all major utility operators will automatically get the new card detai

How do you limit a docker based app from accessing other resources (other apps on TrueNAS or other hosts) to which the TrueNAS itself has access except the internet router.

Ideally, I would like to expose an app to the internet without risking compromising my network or other apps. Planning to do this via HAproxy on the router.

For context:

  • running TrueNAS Scale 25.10.0
  • network is divided into multiple VLANs including one for apps that are risky and should only have access to the internet

First time to Pakistan and will be landing at 2am in Lahore.

Could someone give me an advice as to how to deal with money?

  • Do you withdraw or exchange cash at the airport? Are rates acceptable?
  • How do you normally pay for the ride sharing services like - InDrive, Yango, Careem?
  • Where do you exchange cash in the city?
  • Customs declaration for cash - I see different rules for locals, Pakistani living aboard and visitors - what's the best source of information for that?

Thanks in advance!

Going to North Pakistan - Hunza & Skardu in mid October. Seems like temperatures will be -10C ~ 0C (?)

Prior to that I will be traveling to many hot destinations so I prefer not to carry too much winter clothes with me.

On top of that I believe Pakistan will have what I need.

Can you recommend this traveller specific shop in Lahore to check? Also, any brands to look for?

Thanks!

Planning to rent a place from a friend who is soon to become a non-resident. He owns the place and it's fully paid for (aka not under mortgage).

I'm aware that payments to non-residents should be taxed in Japan (~20%).

Since we are friends and the rent is small we are planning to use a realtor agency. I have a few questions:

  • can I prepay him for a whole year while he is still a resident to avoid the complications with the tax filing + him missing some deductions? Since this is some kind of tax optimization strategy, would it be considered "problematic"?

  • similarly, can I pay him "upon request" whenever he is back as a resident of Japan?

  • lastly, if tax has to be paid in Japan,

Do you get to keep the license and for how long?

From my experience in many countries 6m-12m after you move out you lose the right to use one's driver's license as you are supposed to convert and obtain from your new country of residence.

I did some research and came across this page which explains that in case you miss the renewal window you have to either show jumiho or have to have someone (another driver from the same prefecture) fill a form for temporary return.

Also from the above page - shockingly, they'll put this other person's address on your driver's license. That could even be a hotel where you stay

Rakuten Card offer keeps getting worse. Less points from Ichiba, limited number of Priority Pass limits and now the virtual card.

What I liked the most about the their Virtual Cards is that you can assign whatever cardholder name you want and change it whenever you want.

I use virtual cards with services I don't trust. If I don't trust them with my card details I don't trust them with my name either.

Is there any alternative virtual card service that offers something similar? Doesn't need to be Japanese.
