I work downtown, and I hope someone might now why there have been various and multiple gunshots / fireworks going off today? I am unsure as to what it may be for, or why someone would be shooting off fireworks on a day like today. Not that I want to believe either, something is exploding in bursts on multiple accounts and occasions.

Anyone know the source of these sounds?

A friend of mine recently expressed interest in obtaining (his words were "rent or borrow, not buy") a Roland 808 for production purposes as well as all around jamming. I tried explaining to him it would be much more feasible for me to give him the 808 WAV samples I purchased a while back and use those with the sampler in Ableton.

Ah, but he is a purist and wants simply to use the actual machine, and is very adamant about doing so and just sort of brushes off the fact that I have offered these samples to him.

This brings me to my main point of discussion, how accessible are 808s for common folk? I know they had a short production run but I am a little ignorant as to availability to rent
