Hi all! I'm a non-Spanish person who will be living in Barcelona for from late August to November 10. As an avid runner, I'd really like to compete in some road races while I'm there to experience more of the area and also just to have some good experiences. Unfortunately, I'm trying to research what good road races are being held during my stay, and there's a lot of Spanish-language stuff I'm having some difficulty sifting through. Would anyone have anything to recommend? I was looking at the Gandia Half Marathon as well as the San Sebastian Half (which seems to be running out of spots soon...?) but am wondering if there are any other alternatives that are closer to Barcelona. Also, has any
Reddit naturally lends itself to hiveminding, and people unconsciously gravitate towards similar opinions. These opinions could be true or untrue, but the issue is that the sub becomes more boring and more of an echo chamber.
So - what are your running shoe hot takes? Type them here!
There's probably something to be said for the placebo effect, but I'm wondering to what extent a "protective" and max cusioned shoe (eg. Vomero Premium) actually leads to less impact and decreased chances of injury. Does it actually allow for greater milage? Or is it more of a subjective feeling, with the smoothening of the impact curve being mostly negligible in terms of actual injury risk? Or, in another vein, is there potential deconditioning that comes with frequent use of such shoes relative to a runner who adapts to the impact while wearing firmer and more aggressive shoes?
Hi all, got bit with the running bug around mid-October, and have spent the last two months becoming completely obsessed with running. Got a Garmin, a Strava, a Runna, signed up for an 11k in January, and have built up to around 35-40km a week. However, my legs (and knees especially) feel cranky after a lot of my runs, with long runs especially (around 9k and up). They don't tend to bother me too much during the runs, but they feel achy for the rest of the day and usually into the next day too. Stairs and any movement that is remotely squat-adjacent feel iffy.
These aren't actual injuries - after 18-36 hours my knees are back to normal - but I'm kind of tired of living a decent percentage o
Hi all - I'm a high school teacher, and have heard good things about The Wire, with S4 specifically. However, in all honesty, I don't think I have the time or the interest to watch it all starting from S1E1, especially when I'm particularly interested in the commentary on the education system specifically.
That being said, how much am I missing starting the show at S4?
我平常不是個很認真看新聞的人,但最近好像真的吵得很慘... 我有稍微跟到藐視國會的部分,但在那之後就不知道了,現在罷法起爭議的事情到底是怎麼回事?
When we calculate the word count of our EE, the Guide says that we should not include in-text citations in our final word count. Just wondering how you all do this - do you actually take the word count from Google Docs/Microsoft Word and then manually calculate the word count from all your in-text citations and then subtract it afterwards?
There has to be an easier way .___.
