I started a online side hustle last year and I am preparing everything for self assessment for the previous tax year. I brought a macbook air in 2020 and since I started the side hustle I use the macbook 90% of the time for that business, for which it's value was about £300 when I started the business. What I am confused about is whether I can claim it as an expense (300 x 0.90) on the basis as that the business acquired it off me when I set it up.

Last year, across fb marketplace and carboots I brought a few old video and digital cameras from the 2000s. I brought these for some creative projects I was working on. I later realised that many of these items had significant resale value and overall I made about £600 profit on these when I sold them to move on to other creative projects.

Unfortunately my partner and I are separating. We brought a house for 400k and have a 200k mortgage currently on a fix ending Dec 2026 and we own the house 50/50. We are exploring options around the house although haven't yet spoken to an advisor.

Is it possible for me to remain in the house and buy them out by essentially taking out a second mortgage for their 100k and releasing their equity (assuming this means no ERC)? Alternatively, is it possible to remortgage from 200k to 300k and change deeds into my name only (I would meet affordability of a 300k mortgage). I assume this remortgage would require payment of ERC as its during the fix period?

Across Chloe Zhao first 3 films, his work was incredible and he was definitely one of the most exciting up and coming cinematographers who I would have assumed would have been flooded with work. However, since nomadland he hasn't DP'd a film and did not shoot Chloe Zhao's upcoming film. Does anyone know what he might have been shooting in the meantime (commercials, music videos etc.)?
