I'm looking to replace the front and rear fans in my fractal case (https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/node/node-804/black/) and looking for a recommendation. I see fans are available that focus more on airflow or static etc, but not really sure what to get.

Criteria:

  • Only care about the fans on the side of the case where the hard drive cages are
  • Some more airflow than the stock fans is desired
  • Still want the Goldilocks result in terms of balancing airflow and noise

any help is appreciated

children / group structure in hosts file issue

playbooks, roles and collections

hi folks, hoping someone can tell me where i am going wrong here please, have read the docs and can't see what i am doing wrong.

the goal is to have a structure like follows: top level group: kube children groups of kube: kube1, kube2 children groups of kube1 and kube2: kube1_m, kube1_w, kube2_m, kube2_w lastly, each of those groups have hosts in there for their respective roles (kubernetes master node, worker node etc)

my /etc/ansible/hosts is laid out as follows:

all:
  children:
    kube1_m:
      hosts:
        k1.local.domain:
    kube1_w:
      hosts:
        k[2:4].local.domain:
    kube2_m:
      hosts:
        l1.local

So I am using unbound as the resolver on opnsense for LAN clients and also making use of the host overrides feature, and I am running into an issue that I can't see a relevant config option for, so hoping someone has some insight on what I can do here.

In DHCP settings I specify the domain name for clients, for example my-local-domain.org. Clients receive that, all is well. In Unbound, I have some host override entries within that domain in order to reflect static ip addresses, i.e. server1.my-local-domain.org = 192.168.0.2.

The problem I am trying to prevent happening is either a rogue device connecting to the network and sending a DHCP request using a hostname that matches an entry i

so i decided to try out KDE as gnome wasn't doing everything i wanted, however KDE didn't work out for me either so i switched back to gnome, completing an uninstall and purge of the KDE components.

I used gnome tweaks to restore colours/themes, and that all looks right, however i've noticed some weird icons being used for the minimise/maximise/close buttons in some windows.

I've included a screenshot below showing it affecting some apps but not others - from top to bottom:

  • remmina (affected)
  • pop shop (affected)
  • sublime (unaffected)
  • gnome tweaks (unaffected, also shows my appearance settings)

edit: it's worth noting that if i toggle the 'Legacy Applications' setting from Pop-da

so I am seeing if i can make the switch to rtorrent/rutorrent and trying to determine if some functionality exists in autotools or if there is some other addon i could try.

what i would like to do is:

  1. when a torrent is added (or completed, or midway through. anytime is fine i guess) is check if the directory name is suffixed with a predefined label, for example nice.tv.show.s01e01.some.releasegroup[thissuffixinsquarebrackets], i want [thissuffixinsquarebrackets] to be removed from the folder name. the suffix is always contained in square brackets - i want to remove the whole suffix including brackets.

  2. autoskip of files. if a torrent contains an nfo, or diz for example, i want tho

Trying to switch over from a mac to fedora for daily driver, and one function of macos i liked was the ability to make any notifications received from specific apps as temporary, they would appear for a few seconds then automatically disappear.

I'm on latest fedora with gnome 40.4 and it unless i am missing something, it doesn't seem like there is a method of making notifications temporary, they hang around permanently until i move the mouse pointer over them to make them disappear.

Is there a method of making these notifications temporary for either specific, or all apps, in gnome?

thanks!

Hi folks, back with another pfsense > opnsense migration query please, this time regarding haproxy, the opnsense web gui, HTTPS and a virtual IP.

Config looks like this: opensense LAN IP: 10.0.0.1 opnsense virtual IP (alias), for haproxy: 10.0.0.20

NAT rule (IPv4 only) Source: defined alias of a specific external IP protocol: tcp/udp Destination: WAN address dest port: HTTPS redirect to: haproxy alias redirect port: HTTPS filter rule: add/linked/managed by NAT rule

Opnsense setting: System > Settings > Administration: TCP port: 443 Listen Interfaces: LAN, or All (tried both, same result)

Looking at ifconfig I can see the haproxy virtual IP associated with igb2 (LAN), however it

so i have some scripts that perform some tasks for me and i am trying to migrate these to opnsense from pfsense, however one of the tasks being performed was to create a 7z archive from some files on the disk.

Looking at opnsense I cannot see an option for installing p7zip, or similar, which is what i used on pfsense by doing 'pkg install p7zip'. opnsense shows no results for this, or for other queries around 7z, nor is there any plugins that I can see in the GUI.

I tried compiling from source for freebsd but that instantly threw errors so seems like not a wise move.

Is there another alternative for archiving with bash scripts that exists on opnsense i can use? the key bit of functionalit

seems like every time the lakers play it is instantly lebron that is put on the sidebar. Sure, he had a good game today, but the heat also knocked out the bucks, is that not more worthy considering lebron was up a day or so ago?

So I appreciate and thank the devs for progressing work on conditional forwarding, as i had to previously maintain a config file for this purpose due to UI not meeting requirements.

Now, I upgraded one pihole and I see that the UI has dropped the conditional forwarding settings, so I think ok, weird, but i can put them back in - but computer says no!

well maybe one is more bad design than bug.

First (bug):

Randomly, and most often when in a chopper and flying about the game will temporarily lock up for 3-5 seconds. It always comes back, and you can actually hear the game continuing to run in the background. I've had this issue for 4 months or so now, latest update hasn't improved it. Video example is here, got to the thirty second mark and have your volume on to see: https://streamable.com/ljzyu

Second (bad design?):

Whenever i am on top of a building and trying to look over the side of a barrier with a scope nomad insists on looking directly into the actual barrier, instead of leaning over the side of the barrier. With the height of

So I have an app that has used inputs to ingest data (log events), and the naming scheme of these events has changed slightly over time, i.e. events from 2018:

"log event one"

events from 2019:

"logging event one"

From a dashboard/search perspective I now have two listings for the same type of event - my thought was if i could edit the entries in the database and rename the old events to match the new. I've not delved into the Splunk DB in this way before (the data resides in app specific index) but I couldn't find much on the internet about this - has anyone gone down this road before and able to offer any suggestions on how to go about this? It isn't a very important app, so concerns

I only have (had) the default rules in place for outbound from LAN blocking in place (i.e. none) however i found that packets were being dropped by the firewall and i was unable to connect to a HTTPS VPN:

Oct 22 15:36:35	LAN	10.1.1.132:49386	x.x.x.x:443	TCP:FA

I then created a permit rule on the LAN interface to permit any and all traffic from the internal IP and a permit rule on the WAN interface to allow anything from the external IP.

However after having both of these rules enabled and applied i still see outbound packets being dropped even though i have explicitly told it not to - what gives?

Oct 22 15:45:32	LAN	Default deny rule IPv4 (1000000103) 10.1.1.132:49386 x.x.x.x:443
