For context: I am very attracted to and love my boyfriend. We’ve been living together for a year now. I’ve met his parents and he met my mine + extended family members.

For a long time, my boyfriend was scared to talk about marriage and would avoid the conversation entirely. It wasn’t until we moved to a new city that we started talking more candidly about it. And the more we talk about it, the more… performative it feels? I can’t actually imagine us into the future as a happy couple and don’t have these overwhelmingly positive feelings when I think about marrying him. I don’t know if this is abnormal? We’ve been in and out of rough patches while together and have gotten through emotionall

I’m having very positive feelings about a potential move to a new city that it’s almost overwhelming. For the first time in my life I can actually envision the rest of my life which totally unusual for me. Of course feeling skeptical about it and want to still ground myself in reality.

Have any of you had similar positive feelings in your life about a situation? How did it turn out?

Her name is kicking everybody’s ass, lol. Dragging people to hell and back. I’ve seen three different spellings for her name in a single thread. I’m not even a stan - just someone who appreciates correct spelling and pronunciation of people’s names. Chelley with an ‘e’, y’all.

So I‘ve recently taken FMLA with my employer, and they required that I also filed a claim with DC government. I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting two payments (?) both my normal salary from my employer and a disbursement from DC Office of Employment Services every two weeks. Is this correct? I really don’t want any problems down the road, and I’m assuming that I should just be receiving payments from the DC government.

Thank you!

I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling like the ground beneath us is crumbling. We have politicians and technocrats who are anti-worker, anti-education, anti-sustainability, against women’s health, war-mongers, and are explicitly racist. These powerful people have placed us under a clear surveillance state and have a monopoly on our data that makes any dissent potentially punishable and scientific information deletable so long as it questions the power of our dictator president.

We have been saying this would happen for so, so long. It feels like we’ve ceded so much ground to people who are openly self-interested and that we’ve gone past a point of no return. And all we can manage to drum u

Hi everyone. Looking for someone who may have insight into ads and algorithms.

My friend and I were chatting about the “magic” that happens when your algorithm hands you an ad of something you were just thinking about that day, hour, or second. On multiple occasions, we simply thought about something, and it immediately appeared to us in the form of an ad. It’s especially interesting if we haven’t texted about, looked up, taken a picture of the thing, or liked any posts about said thing, so it’s difficult to identify which data of ours was used as one of their inputs.

I’ve usually seen folks describe why I get certain ads (e.g., my behavior, likes) but I think my real question is how i

Interracial Relationships 💟

Hi everyone! Need some advice here and learn how to best approach. As a Black woman born and raised in the United States, I’m having trouble not centering my experience with oppression over my partner’s.

For context: I am in an inter-racial relationship. My partner identifies as Southeast Asian and a child of immigrant parents. His parents come from a country with a very low GDP per capita and extreme poverty and hunger. While he himself grew up in the United States, he visited his parents’ home in this country every summer during his childhood.

We have recently gotten into many debates about racism and oppression. He tells me that racism against Asian people often goes under the radar,
