Bcachefs, Btrfs, EXT4, F2FS & XFS File-System Performance On Linux 6.15
phoronix.com/review/linux-615-filesystemsSystem specs:
OS: Arch Linux
Plasma: 6.2.4
Kernel: 6.12.1-arch1-1
Scaling: 200%
CPU: i5 7400
GPU: AMD Radeon Pro 555
RAM: 8 GB (2400 MT/s)
I've been trying to run games on KDE Plasma, but a persistent issue has been occuring where the cursor appears to be misaligned with its actual position. The cursor is also much blurrier and larger (similar to the GTK cursor situation). Kwin appears to be aware of the cursor's positioning, though, as any screenshot I take shows the cursor in its proper position.
This issue doesn't persist on Mutter/GNOME, even with the Breeze cursor. It does persist on both native and WINE-run games, but doesn't under a fullscreen Firefox window, curious
If you're encountering a black screen with a cursor on Plasma due to Mesa 24.3.1, roll back to 24.3.0 or update to 24.3.1-2. Apps also seem to crash.
Zenless Zone Zero released today, and seems to work on Linux basically issue-free.
Relevant info:
- OS: Arch Linux
- Kernel: 6.9.7-arch-1.1
- WINE: Wine-GE-Proton8-26
- GPU: AMD Radeon Pro 555
Enjoy!

I'm using Plasma 6.0.5 on Arch, and one thing I keep having issues with is the way KDE handles Meta+<Left/Right>. It uses a LARGE quantity of space on the right or a small quantity on the left. How can I reset it back to using only 50%? (I've looked up potential solutions, and I've adjusted KDE's "snap zones" (what pops up when pressing Super+T).
Basically what the title says. RCV is a system where you can vote for your "first choice" and "second choice" instead of just one. It's what the UK uses, and I was wondering if India would benefit from this method of voting.
I've come back to Arch from Fedora and one thing I find weird is that Firefox refuses to play certain videos. I've tried to install everything I can, but it doesn't seem to work. I know that Firefox isn't the issue here, as its Flatpak version works fine. Are there any codecs that I have to install for full functionality? This install was migrated from Fedora, it that means anything.
EDIT: The site is AP CollegeBoard.
UPDATE: Here's what works:
-
Chrome (AUR package)
-
All Flatpaks (tested: Firefox, Brave, Waterfox, Chrome)
I've just shifted over to NixOS and I need to install a kernel patch to get sound working. https://github.com/davidjo/snd_hda_macbookpro
I've been using Fedora 40 for a while and wanted to try installing sysetmd-boot. I installed it and also have an XBOOTLDR partition (/boot) and a regular ESP (/boot/efi). systemd wouldn't recognize my XBOOTLDR partition and complained about no entries, so I added drivers to /boot/efi/EFI/systemd/drivers (from rEFInd and EFIFS, ext2 and ext4). However, the system now takes 2+ minutes to boot on an SSD. What's odd is that it's always the same time taken, 2m1.317s. systemd-analyze only shows the bootloader time and not anything I can work with. Any advice?
I'm on Fedora 40, KDE edition. I'm running into this issue where the screen locks even though KDE Plasma is aware that an activity is running that should prevent it.
Plasma version: 6.0.4
Specs:
- Intel i5 7400
- Radeon Pro 555
- 8 GB of RAM
The only thing unofficial about this setup is the RPMFusion mesa. Is there any setting that overrides sleep?
