Having lived and worked in Homewood for 8+ years now, I'm no stranger to the dangers and utter carelessness on Oxmoor Blvd- specifically between the intersections of Scott St/Vulcan Road and the weird formation at Cobb St and the point where Oxmoor Blvd becomes Oxmoor Road, by the Chevron.

The past two days alone I've witnessed: 1. a Nissan Altima turning right without stopping or yielding and therefore flying into oncoming traffic onto Vulcan Road (near Batteries Plus.) 2. A car slamming into a power pole near Hamburger Heaven, causing a power outage. And 3. This morning a Honda CRV cutting through the Jim n Nick's parking lot because they were tired of waiting at the light. Happens every

Note: we finally got our booking issue for Òx resolved. Was a credit card fluke. Thanks to everyone who offered input!

Next question: drop me some suggestions for must-visit art galleries! Can be larger museums or smaller galleries, i.e. ones that display a few local artists at a time and have their works available for purchase. My partner and I are always on the hunt for unique art, and he collects landscapes in particular.

Thanks!

Hello! We are trying to book dinner at Òx via Dineout from the US. The dinner date will be mid-October, and the 90 day booking window just opened today. We are having a nightmare of a time getting this thing done. Between error messages and the verification screen freezing, nothing is going through.

Has anyone else had issues with Dineout as far as finalizing or verifying reservation and payment?

With today's news that the Galleria is up for sale, I've been reflecting on the old days of the mall and the Wynfrey.

Pre-Hyatt renovation, each of the three main lobby elevators in the Wynfrey had some kind of Classical-themed artwork inside. I believe it was supposed to fit with the "old world" decor of the hotel at the time.

Does anyone know anything about these paintings, such as the artist or where they are now (hopefully not in a C&D landfill)? I thought they were the prettiest elevator cars back in the day!

Thanks!

So we know that Brock is half Swedish+quarter Polish+quarter Winnebago, Dr. Mrs. The Monarch "may be" Sephardic Jewish per the creators, Phantom Limb is at least part French via Fantomas, etc.

But what about the Venture family? Cloning aside, there had to be some forebears from somewhere who settled in America.

I happened upon someone on a family tree site with a "LaVenture" surname who was French-Canadian iirc, hence it just got me thinking haha.

Throwing out my personal guess that Jonas Sr was of some French and Irish lineage due to the name Venture and the red hair.

Some time before the old Parkway City was torn down and redone, the Montgomery Ward wing/end was walled off, and a mural was painted over it. I believe it was a life-size painting of people waiting at a bus or train stop? Wouldn't be surprised if was done by someone with HAL Gallery, since they were located in the mall at the time. Does anyone have specifics on this mural, like the artist, subject, etc? Thanks!

Been wondering about this for a while as someone who frequents art+craft markets like Cahabazaar and most recently, Arts Connection at Sloss.

Why on earth are Renewal by Andersen, Gutter Guard, and/or Cutco nearly always at these events? All three had tents at Sloss yesterday, and usually at least 1-2 are at the smaller markets throughout the year.

I'm here to look at art, not get suckered into a cutlery MLM or outfit my bottom floor apartment with new gutters lmao

Hey everyone! With Panoply coming up, my parents and I have been reminiscing on Panoplies past.

We're trying to remember the names of 1. The pan pipe group from the Andes (Peru maybe?) that came every year in the 90s-00s and 2. The "Mask Man", who I believe is Robert Faust, but can't prove definitively. He gave demonstrations of his masks and incorporated a lot of humor and audience participation.

TIA for any answers/pointers!

Hey everyone!

I know this is trivial in the grand scheme of flights right now but figured I'd ask.

I booked a flight to KEF through IcelandAir directly last Thursday, March 19. The charge appeared as pending on my credit card (Mastercard) for about a day or two, and then disappeared. 8 days later there's nothing- my balance, available credit, and even purchase rewards reflect nothing, as if the charge never happened. I do have confirmation and receipt emails from IcelandAir, however.

has this happened to anyone else? If so, how long did it take for the charge to settle?

Hello all!

My partner and I are planning to visit Reykjavik in mid-October for his 40th birthday. He would like to celebrate with a tasting menu experience, and I am on the hunt for one that's not stupid expensive but still includes the best of Icelandic cuisine. 7-8+ courses preferred. Intimate atmosphere is better, but we're really not particular either way.

We're in USD so feel free to share your price experiences as well.

Anyone else pay their rent via Zego, formerly PayLease? Wanting to make sure I'm setting up Bilt BillPay correctly. Thanks!
