I'm headed to niseko mid April and love hiking. I want to do some snowshoeing. I haven't been able to find any guided tours for this time of year. I'm happy to rent the gear and self guide.
I was looking at Hangetsu Lake.
Can anyone help out with recommendations of areas? I understand it's spring and the conditions will be deteriorating.
I will have a hire car and happy to drive anywhere.
I would love some help/feedback with my itinerary. Activities for each day are just suggestions. Nothing is solid yet and am happy to change anything up
This will be my 2nd trip to Japan. Previously I did
tokyo>kyoto>osaka>hakata>tokyo
This time I plan to do
Tokyo>hokkaido>takayama>aomori>Sendai>matsumoto>osaka>Hiroshima> tokyo
I understand our choice of locations and dates are the most efficient, however I wanted to see both the hirosaki and takayama spring festivals.
I am considering skipping the osaka leg of the trip so I can spend more time around tokyo/takayama/matsumoto/sendai.
We want to catch the tail end of the snowboarding season so we are headed to niseko our other choices

I am looking for recommendations based on the current snow conditions.
Niseko Grand Hirafu or Shiga Kogen/Nozawa onsen, which one is better for snowboarding in April?
We are headed to japan in early April and wanted to get some snowboarding in, before the season is over.
I have narrowed selection down to Niseko Grand Hirafu and Shiga Kogen/Nozawa.
Which location would you recommend? I'm open to any other recommendations.
The last time I snowboarded was 20 years ago.
I will be in hokkaido from the 9th of April.
I understand its late in the season however I would love to do some snowboarding. I was considering grand hirafu. What are the conditions looking like?
Also can anyone recommend some hikes or any other snow related activities that are still going that time of year?
I come from a warm country so want to experience some snow.
Which is "better"?
Gun to your head, choose one.
Any feedback in either would be great.
Both are currently on my itinerary. I am contemplating culling one to make room for other activities.
I had planned a snowboarding trip this year. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the earliest I can go is the 8th of April.
I understand this is spring and the end of the snow season.
My current itinerary is dependent on which location has the best chance of having some decent snowboarding and a general winter experience.
Currently I will chose between shiga kogen or niseko. If anyone has any other suggestions I'm all ears.
1 Tokyo:
1 night. Head to either niseko or shiga kogen the following day.
2 Niseko: 5 days Snowboard, Sapporo, Noboribetsu etc
*or
2 Shiga Kogen: 5 days Snowboard
*Next stop takeyama. Obviously this would be much easier from shiga kogen.
Takeyama:
