Hey guys,

I am in the market for a Golf, GTI/GTE or the 150 hp engine, however I've read about the random and unpredictable failure of the water pump due to its bad design. And while changing a water pump after 100,000 km or 10 years is perfectly normal for most cars, there are so many bad stories of early failure or people who even change it multiple times.

So I might consider the 1.4 hybrid engine in the GTE or the eTSI. Do you guys know if these are less prone to water pump issue?

TIA!

Hi everyone,

I am considering buying a Golf or Polo in either GTI or R-line version with 1.5 or 2.0 turbo engines.

I was quite confident in my choice but now I am seeing a lot of people on VW and GTI forums that had to change their water pump and it seems almost inevitable but also quite random.

Can someone comment on this? What's the failure rate or is there a way to reduce the risk of this? I am now scared of buying a VW.

Hi All,

Thank you all for the great information on this sub! I would appreciate some advice on the logistics of my planned itinerary because not sure how to arrange all of it. I have 21 days total but I would like to return to Tokyo 1 day earlier than my flight to avoid any problems.

I love nature, diving, snorkeling, onsen, hiking, small places, and good food.

-> Flying from Tokyo to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki – 5 days

Okinawa – 4 days

-> Flying to Kagoshima then

Sakurajima – 1 day

Yakushima – 3 days

-> Train to Kumamoto

Kumamoto - 1 day

After this I am unsure what to do, if I should rent a car for the following

Mt Aso - Kurokawa - Beppo – 3 days

Unzen – 1 day

Nagasaki - Takeo

Hi All,

I recently bought a Samsung Q930F, really happy with it, I use in my living room for all sorts of audio applications and am blown away by the clarity of the audio even at low volumes! Though being an open box I would like to thoroughly test each individual speaker.

I've seen the online Gdrive folder with test tracks but there's no 9.1.4, there's a 9.1.6 and 7.1.4 which I tried to playback from my PC via BT and from the TV with Kodi, but they don't seem to match the speakers. Some say "front" but my rear satellite activates. I am confused and would like to make sure that each individual speaker works.

I tried these tests both in the "adaptive" and "surround" modes and in the adapti

Hey folks, I am glad to join this sub, as I am also very frustrated with these huge phones!!! My Huawei p30 was stolen, which still worked perfectly after 5 years.

Being out of the market, reality hits me that only very few decent phones have a screen size of < 6.3". What I need is

- dual sim
- good camera with telephoto a plus
- good battery
- smooth UI

I don't game, I don't need 16gb or ram. I use offline maps a lot though. First choice is the S23/S24, but not too excited about having to use low performance mode to avoid draining the battery, the Pixel 8/9 doesn't have telephoto and has HW issues with antennas. That's a no go for me that I live in an area with poor reception.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to buy a vacuum pump and I'm trying to determine what features it should have.

I will use it mainly to install mono, bi and tri-split air conditioners, mostly with R32 but only occasionally. Can anyone advise me?

  • Do I need a specific pump for R32? Is there a problem if I use pump that's not marked with R32? Why is the compatible gas relevant since I will only using it in a new installation to make a vacuum new pipes?

  • Is a double-stage pump recommended?

  • Regarding max vacuum, I see that most pumps are between 15 and 60 microns. If I understand correctly, this should be plenty enough since AC requires somewhere below 500 microns.

  • What are the most importan

Hi All,

I would like to connect a driver (24v) to somewhere near the middle of a 24v COB LED strip, I have soldering equipment so no problem with that, but I don't understand if I can solder directly on the copper pads or I am forced to cut the strip first and make 4 soldering points?

Are the copper pads insulated and how? I can't really tell. I believe they should be insulated otherwise handling the strip while turned on could create a short circuit and I see plenty of people who touch and move led strips while they are on. I did so myself as well.

Is it possible to just remove the insulation at the pads location?

Could someone please help? Much appreciated!

Hi All, I have started woodworking recently and slowly building my tool set.

I will be working on wood flooring, cabinets, nothing thicker than

~100 mm with cuts across, I already have a circular saw but would like also a d-barrel jigsaw. I can't decide between these Bosch and Makita

models as I have been reading about some of their issues. The Bosch 150 seem to have problems with the blade clamping mechanism. The Makita has some quality issue with the adapter for vacuuming and the blade position not being centered correctly.

On another woodworking forum people suggest the Bosch 135 but the used ones I find around are 10-15 years old and who know how they have been

Howdy folks,

I had the HD15R for a few days, I am really happy with it but today it randomly turned off, I checked the battery and its voltage is 3.8v. When I plug it in the light works fine and I can adjust the three level of brightness, but when unplugged it doesn't work.

What could it be? Are there any common problems that can be quickly fixed? Should I open it?

thanks in advance
