I fancy visiting your lovely city for the beer festival at the Wellington, but the only days I can make it are Sunday or Monday. I'd like a bag of chips before my beer, but most chippies seem to be closed on those days.

Any (ideally central or towards the north) open either day?

I've just been to the new Hopsters bar in Short Brackland. A great selection of tasty craft ales; ten taps and two fridges of cans & bottles. If you like tasty beers that aren't run of the mill, it's worth a visit.

And Burnt Mill brewery will be opening a bar in St John's St soon.

Even more reasons why I love getting the train over from Ipswich's poor ale scene.

I have two monitors. I only turn on my secondary monitor when I actually need it, so it would be useful if I could actually detect whether it's on or off from within scripts. Is there any way to do this?

Yes, I know all I need to to is look at it, but I'm actually interested in my scripts knowing if it's on or off, so their behaviour can be changed accordingly, not in me knowing if it's on or off.

According to the docs,

ACES (Academy Color Encoding Specification) is a specification that defines a color encoding system created to standardize how color is managed to create an accurate color workflow. Within that standard, a RRT (Reference Rendering Transform) converts the colors from the ACES color space to the used color space in your image.

Which may as well have been written in Mandarin for all the sense it make to this ignorant person. All I can see is that it seems to darken the image a bit and introduce some sort of colour cast.

I can force Darktable to write a sidecar file from the lighttable view with a pre-set shortcut key, "s". However, this doesn't work on the darkroom view and just comes up with "s not assigned".

I've looked around the instructions on creating shortcuts, but can't work out how, if at all, it's possible to assign a shortcut in darkroom to write a sidecar. Am I trying to do something impossible (I so often do) or is there a way I haven't divined yet?

Thanks.
