Hello, I am very new to this but super excited to dive in! i love problem solving, so i'm sure i will get a kick out of it regardless...so, my current issue is that i dont know what i want. Do i want a modern NAS? a homelab? a home server? i dont really know the difference between all of these things or even if there is one. What i do know is what i want out of it:

I want to be able to stream movies/music anywhere at anytime

I want to be able to download/move files from place to place remotely if possible

I want a boat load of storage!!

I want to run game servers for me and my friends

and finally

I want to build this on a very tight budget in case it just isnt for me. (i am more than

So I tried to do some digging to get myself out of here but it didn't work. I'll keep trying, but I'm new to all this so I'm not super sure what to do. I'm not sure why it's in emergency mode. Only thing I can think of is bc I added/formatted a m.2 yesterday bc that's the only like internal thing I did. Other than that I just watch YouTube and played games. hello,so i am still learning linux/Cachyos and I have 2 SSD's installled on my motherboard and when i use the command "lsblk" and go thru all that, my 2nd SSD is there and i even mounted it. but for some reason i can't install steam games on the second SSD? i'm not sure what the issue is, any help would be greatly appreciated!

so i just built my first pc (woohoo) and decided i want to try Linux. well i have it installed and i'm "adding programs" right now, like gimp, and operaGX, and other stuff. Well Alacritty is asking for a password and i was pretty sure i put in the right password but for some reason it keeps telling me to try again, can i reset the password? i did some googling and unfortunately came up empty handed. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

Hello! So I went to microcenter for the first time the other day and I was looking at keyboards. A sales rep walks up to me and asks if I need help, so I told him I wanted to match my setup by brand, which would have been Logitech (g502 maters race, iykyk) however, the keyboard specs I wanted (wireless, OEM keys, hot swappable) weren't available in Logitech lineup. So he suggested to me Keychron. We went over to it and discovered I REALLY like TACTILE. I don't want clicky and I don't want linear. I also found i enjoy the 60-75% layouts. Hello, I'm not too knowledgeable on fords a lot, especially trucks and more especially turbo diesel trucks. I've looked all over the Internet to find the difference I'm looking for and I can't find it. So, I have a 2004 Ford E350 6.0 turbo diesel NON super duty. It doesn't say super duty on the title. To be clear, it's probably considered the cutaway bc it's a short bus back half. Front half is probably all the same e350 chassis/shell I would imagine. So what are the major differences between my truck and a 6.0 super duty of the same/similar year. I'm looking to sell it soon and the super duty's sell for nearly $10,000 more in great condition. So I've been dabbling in modding for a short while and have gained enough knowledge to put together a mod pack for me and my friends, which we use to play on a server that we fund together. Maybe I'm a little nit-picky on some stuff, but it has occurred to me that maybe some of the mods I have added aren't doing their job correctly? Now I'm not talking about mods that just add items or whatever, but rather mods that are meant

So I got a new, bigger SSD. I have 2 ports for nvme and simply added in the new drive. Now my goal is to clone my main drive to the new drive and essentially use my old drive as extra storage. Biggest reason for this is that I've recently been getting a "disk at risk" prompt Everytime I boot up my laptop. So I figure just moving everything to a new healthy SSD will just be beneficial. So, my concern is losing any data. If I clone everything, I should be good right? Also, will cloning it to the new drive set the new drive as the "default drive"? With that being said, I need to change my boot drive to the new drive, right? I'm just trying to make this process as easy as physically possible.

So I'm trying to setup Samsung pay and the keypad that pops up spams whichever number I press. It doesn't matter how quickly or slowly I press, it will spam the same number every time. Is there anyway to fix this?

are there mods or things i can do in advance to possibly *prevent* chunks from being corrupted. My friends and I recently lost our modded world due to corrupt chunks. the server host support was super awesome in their communication, it just was sadly a lost cause. So while we are starting over, i want to take every step possible to PREVENT server chunks from getting corrupt in the first place.

So I'm new to all of this, but I want to know If my options are really all that different. So from the little bit of understanding I've picked up. The higher GHz in the cpu, the better (non turbo) so either I save up and get a i7-7700k cpu and maybe build the rest. Or go budget and buy an old office PC with the i7-7700 or 8700 for $80 or less, completely ready to go (other than storage maybe)

Hey everyone, I've got the MSI with the ryzen 5 7535HS and the Nvidia 4050 GPU, just got it for my bday and was wondering what mifht be the issue? I'm not overloading the ram and don't have much installed. Gmod is one of the games I'm trying to run, so I can't imagine it's the game in playing either. Anyways, some sort of clarification or tips on helping it run would be great. Thanks!

Would it be safe to assume that if i created my own modpack in curseforge and it launched just fine in singleplayer, that *should* translate to being able to work for a server? minus any client side stuff of course.

I searched far and wide and there was no solid "seperation" among server posts and singleplayer posts. they seemed to just go hand in hand, so i feel this is safe to assume. regardless, let me know! me and some friends have some mods picked out that all have a desirable minecraft version available to us and we really want to get our server to fit our group perfectly. thanks in advance.
